View Full Version : Republicans coddle Pedophiles?????

So basically, if this true, Bohner told Hastert that Foley was a pedo and Hastert chose to ignore it because of election considerations.
From the Chicago Tribune
"House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of inappropriate 'contact' between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he then told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Boehner later contacted The Post and said he could not remember whether he talked to Hastert.
It was not immediately clear what actions Hastert took. His spokesman had said earlier that the speaker did not know of the sexually charged online exchanges between Foley and the boy."
So Boehner, at the very least, knew about the "inappropriate contact." And Rep. John Shimkus (R-Ill.) who oversees the congressional pages as head of the Page Board, the group responsible for the teenagers who work essentially as gofers and doorholders for lawmakers, knew even earlier.
The Post report contained the following passage:
"Shimkus said in a statement last night, 'in late 2005, I was notified by the then Clerk of the House,' that Alexander had told the Clerk 'about an email exchange between Congressman Foley and a former House Page. I took immediate action to investigate the matter.'
"In the e-mail, 'Foley asked about the former Page's well-being after Hurricane Katrina and requested a photograph,' Shimkus said. He said Foley assured him it was an innocent exchange, but 'nevertheless, we ordered Congressman Foley to cease all contact' with the boy and to respect all pages. 'Only now have I learned that Congressman Foley was not honest about his conduct,' Shimkus said."
Despite all of this, Boehner allowed Foley to remain chair of the House caucus devoted to protecting children from sexual predators. Not only is this disturbing, it doesn't make any sense.
Its so ironic/karmic that is following the day when Hastert accused Democrats of "coddling Terrorists"
The House speaker, J. Dennis Hastert, Republican of Illinois, said, "The same terrorists who plan to harm innocent Americans and their freedoms would be coddled, if we followed the Democratic plan."
It really does write itself doesnt it?
Btw.. here are REPUBLICAN Representative Mark Foleys writing to an UNDERAGE boy.
Maf54: You in your boxers, too?
Teen: Nope, just got home. I had a college interview that went late.
Maf54: Well, strip down and get relaxed.
Another message:
Maf54: What ya wearing?
Teen: tshirt and shorts
Maf54: Love to slip them off of you.
And this one:
Maf54: Do I make you a little horny?
Teen: A little.
Maf54: Cool.
And the House Leadership was okay with this, and despite knowning, didnt remove Foley from the Chairmanship of the Committee on Protecting Missing and Exploited Children.
Are you shitting me? Republicans are so fucked in November.

This could be very bad for the republican leadership but at least this wasn't a case of a guy getting a blow job from a 21 year old female intern, that would have been atrocious.

Not to get off-topic, but I don't know about the made up life. I've met Kelraz - I live near Kelraz. As far as I've been able to discern he say what he does. I dunno what else to say.
And why be all mysterious? We know 'old guard circles' is just RiP - no big mystery there. I wonder how the religous conservite base will react to supporting not only a pedophile, but a homesexual one at that?
Answer: nothing, instead the will throw thier full efforts behind electing whoever is chosen to run in his place. not because he's the best canidate, has better ideas, a better record or is more moral than his opponent. no simply because he'll have the holy (R) behind his name.

OMG, Fandros has finally seen the light.....
Repubs (at least most of those currently in office) stand for nothing (other than their own profiteering and ambitions), have no platform (other than whatever they are told to follow by the Bush/Cheney cartel) and inspire noone (self-explanatory).
On a more serious note, I watched Hastert being questioned on Fox yesterday, and he was very obviously uncomfortable with being questioned about the resignation of Foley. He stated that he did not request the resignation, and that he also did not and would not attempt to dissuade Foley.
This is by no means the election killer, but when added to the assorted scandals and misdeeds being catalogued by those in office it is going to be a very nasty and interesting October leading up to the elections. Barring a major event, like another attack on our soil, or capturing OBL, I don't think the Repubs are going to hang onto both Houses. Hopefully, getting kicked in the teeth might be a wake-up call to return to traditional Republican values, and not those dictated by the religious right, and big business. If the Republican election committee was really smart, they would spend less time on attack ads, which is all I have seen so far from them, and instead buy each candidate for office a copy of any one of Goldwater's books, just to refresh their memory on what the party used to be about. Then, we could have some decent debates with real content, instead of all the bullshit we are being subjected to.
Ok, back to work, carry on :p

I think Kelraz sounds like a fairly intelligent young guy who has alot more motivation in doing things than most I know of his age. Its kind of ridiculous to bring up the drama of EQ as most games that are played online are full of drama...tis why I quit EQ the drama was way over played.
The best part of EQ was being a level 60 in a dinky guild and taking out EW people in a one on one fight in the arena....if you wanted to see drama that was the best way to see it. No one ever figured out why that could happen(a few cheap vendor sold potions helped along with the right spells, often lower level spells), they just screamed cheater and would bad mouth you all over the server. But the arena was a PVP area and any player on Sullon Zek learned that there were ways to take down who you wanted, but that didn't go over so well on a blue server.
Even funnier was killing a Bard in the arena, they never knew how...the key was...in the arena a Bard couldn't run out of range to heal. But for drama...killing a bard was the best...they would absolutely freak and in most cases do the /Q to deny the kill.

I must admit I have not followed this story much at all but if other Congressmen knew about his "problem" then they should be held just as culpable as Foley. In a time when we are, again admitadly, trying to hold seats this is not what we need. If actions like these cause the Republicans to loose seats then we deserve it.

Yeah, unfortunately....the party has been hijacked since the mid-90's.
Reagan was a Goldwater adherent, and while I never liked his budget skills I did admire his doff of the cap in Goldwater's direction. If the party could have maintained that sense of pride in being a conservative Republican that Reagan brought with him to the White House rather than sinking into the hate-filled rhetoric and win at all costs mentality that would have made both Barry and Ronnie sick at heart, I really think we would be seeing a drastically different country, and possibly world, here in 2006. I am confident it would be much more of a cooperative effort than this we/they us/them crap we currently must put up with, from both sides.
Having an active pedophile in charge of protecting kids against pedophiles is going to be fodder for sure, and all the petty insults and vitriol that the Repubs used via Clinton jabs is going to be coming back to haunt them big time. I just don't know that it will be viewed as that huge of an event as some think.
Lleauric
09-30-2006, 06:19 PM
Nah.. its not a huge event.. its just at worst possible timing for the Republicans.
Right off the heels of the GoPs very aggressive push on "Democrats are soft on Terror" message leading into the home stretch of the election, they now have to deal with a devastating counter punch in "Well...Republicans are soft on Pedophiles".
With about 4 weeks left until the election this will dominate at least 1 news cycle as it was timed perfectly (too perfectly?) to hit on Weds, have the fall out and repurcussions occur in time to give it new life on the Sundays talks shows and with a holiday on Monday, giving this story legs for most of the week. It eats time and destroys any momentum the RNC hoped to get this week as they released some 40 million in campaign ads across each battleground district.
If the coverup angle has legs, Hastert is in an impossible position. He can deny and allow the story to drag out, risking being caught in lie.
Or he can admit it (if he knew) and allow the chips to fall, and get the story over with.
Or he can have Bohner fall on his sword.
When this thing dies out, we will be 2 weeks away from an election.

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds (N.Y.) issued a statement Saturday in which he said that he had informed Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) of allegations of improper contacts between then-Rep. Why this keeps getting brought up by you ... well I don't know. But to answer why I work for Fox - because most of their shows kick ass :) If I turned down Fox once for Fox News, they probably wouldn't have called me to do the Die Hard 4 DVD features or call me to work on America's Most Wanted ... probably my favorite show in the world to work on. And I wouldn't have gotten asked to cover the press conference I invited Ainwein to the other day - and wrote about in another thread: Borat.
http://chadhorn.net/misc/Convention/1086570267_l.jpg
If you look closely, you can see a portrait of Reagan and another of Ford. Thats Bill Frist's office ... who is actually one of the nicest politicians I've ever met. George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and John McCain would probably be the three slightly above him. I'd probably even vote for McCain and Frist if I was able to ... I'm not as quite the radical lefty as you make me out to be.
And when I played Everquest in middle and high school, I very much could have been a drama queen. I've grown up quite a bit since then, whats your excuse?

Is it hard to not laugh when you are doing the camera work for a Borat news conference? Or do you hear the camera people laughing?
Kelraz Bladesinger
10-01-2006, 01:24 AM
Well the brilliant thing about press conferences is the mult box. They put the camera folks maybe 10 to 20 rows of chairs behind the other members of the press (radio, print, magazine) and we've got a direct audio feed from the podium ... so we can laugh all we like without hurting the production quality :)
And yes, people were laughing their asses off at Borat. A number of the folks there even met Sasha as other characters in the past (Ali G for the most part) and knew him personally ... though I don't think Sasha has ever made an appearance as himself.
Truthfully, aside from Anna Nicole at the Supreme Court and Borat ... most press conferences are pretty boring. The first one I ever covered was by the Department of the Interior announcing that some dude found a woodpecker that was the same type as Woodie from the cartoon show -- yawn :)
Though back on topic, I think the press conferences about all of the above topics might be something to laugh at. Besides of course it being quite icky.

In the way of being funny but fucked-up, this morning I heard a statement that was attributed to Hastert's office saying basically, 'Yes, we knew about this a year ago; we just did not know it was this bad.'
I guess in the nation's capitol they have levels of pedophilia and child endangerment that are unknown to the rest of us, who tend to see things a bit more black and white.

Yes I believe this was something implemented by the office of homeland insecurity. They are as follows:
Level 1 - Color - Teal: He might be a Fanook (This level is triggered by mere rumours, that is all that is needed just a rumour that someone had either a homosexual experience or had been seen stroking a pages arm while in deep conversation. The house and Senate will always ignore this level)
Level 2 - Color - Sandy Brown: Definately Likes Boys (This level is triggered by email exchanges between male members of Congress or the Senate with their male pages. When this level is reached it must be noted by members to the leadership in case a reporter gets a hold of it.)
Level 3 - Color - Mauve: Holy Shit Did You See The News (This level is attained when the sexual trysts between male members of Congress or the Senate and their male pages makes frontpage news or is the featured "breaking news" story of the day. The planned response to this level involves resignations and blame the other guy.)

Will depend on the exact content of the e-mails. Usually, the more serious charges are held back if no meeting is proposed, but once discussion takes place regarding meeting, they usually can prove intent to commit based on the e-mail history. At most, he would probably be looking at misdemeanor charges if no contact took place.
At the least, the consequences are usually along the line of what he is facing now, which is public humiliation and loss of prestige/standing/position. Not to mention how he is going to be explaining this to family and friends.

God it keeps getting better. Why does Foley keep putting his dumb face in the news with his statements every day. First he denies being a pedophile but he's an alcoholic instead. Now he is a pedophile but thats because the clergy molested him. If I was one of the Republican leaders, I'd be begging this guy to shut up and hope the story disappeared - not getting in front of a camera every single day.
Now if this was the President who resigned ... the Vice President would step up because he was also voted for as part of the ticket. Then the speaker would step up, who was also elected in. I'm curious who is going to take his seat ultimately, will the guy appointed by the Republican party get to keep it despite him never winning an election? Or is he just a placeholder?

Yeah I agree, its quite amazing that the house leadership was well aware of this and didn't do anything about it for 3+ years, the same people who have spent countless hours talking about and passing legislation to regulate what we can watch on TV, listen to on the radio or even read in books under the guise of "protecting" children didn't do a damn thing just so they could hold onto power.

CLAIM: FILTHY FOLEY ONLINE MESSAGES WERE PAGE PRANK GONE AWRY
**World Exclusive**
**Must Credit the DRUDGE REPORT**
According to two people close to former congressional page Jordan Edmund, the now famous lurid AOL Instant Message exchanges that led to the resignation of Mark Foley were part of an online prank that by mistake got into the hands of enemy political operatives, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats.
The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the investigation.
The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others.
The news come on the heels that Edmund has hired former Timothy McVeigh attorney, Stephen Jones.

Hey thanks for the serious reply to my post, I would have thought that everyone realized that it was posted to point out the ridiculous thought that this was something that the democrats contrived. But not you Sixee, you showed that even the most obvious things can get past some people.

Hey, if you don't like the answer, then don't ask the question.
I don't think the Democrats concocted this whole thing.
I think the timing of the release of the story was a bit suspect.
The man should have been handled back when it happened.
Politics as usual, indeed...

Ok Sixee I see your point. Here are some questions that you can answer for me as the reasons (in quotes) for them seem to not make any sense, please make sense of these things for me.
Some 16,000 residents of a Raleigh, North Carolina, suburb have been urged to evacuate after explosions at a hazardous waste plant shot noxious gas and flames 150 feet into the air.
If the noxious fumes went 150 feet into the air, why are they evacuating? Surely there are not 16000 people whos height exceeds 150 ft so this wouldn't seem to be something that warrants evacuation as most people, even standing up, are well below 150 ft.
Bush standing by embattled Hastert
I have not seen any photos of these two men together since this scandal broke. Is this another political lie? How could Bush be standing by him when it is proven that Hastert has been in Illinois and Bush has been in Washington thats about 1000 miles away from each other, anyone knows that you would have to be pretty darn fat to stand by someone who is 1000 miles away.
Russia deported a planeload of Georgians accused of immigration offences on Friday
Why are people from Georgia trying to immigrate to Russia? I've been to Georgia and it has alot of nice areas, Downtown Atlanta is pretty nice as are the suburbs and if you've ever spent time in quaint places like Savannah its just darn beautiful, that and its proximity to Hilton Head Island and the many golf courses would make me want to stay in Georgia.
This should keep you busy I would think...thanks in advance.

Yeah I agree...but it kind of depends where your imperfections are. The imperfection of wanting to have sex with children is one that I'm glad I don't have.

An ex-page alleges (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-page8oct08,0,3896853.story?coll=la-home-headlines) sex with Foley. The page states he was 21 at the time.

He probably would of been, had the Democratic members of the committee that oversaw pages been informed. Unfortunately, those in the know hid it for "political" reasons. It is logical, since you hold this belief, that you believe Hastert should resign for not handling it back when it happened.
Of course, this couldn't be the answer. (http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/100506/news2.html)

OMG...do you know what this means...there is actually one person in Washington that has morals....
If at all possible we should attempt to clone him or find another who is willing to mate with him...in 30 years or so we could actually see a small colony of morally driven people in Washington.
A new campaign could start...Mate for Morals!!!

Well I couldn't vote in 1983, I can now. Thats fairly irrelevant to me. In fact, it seems pretty irrelevant to the entire discussion.
Thats like making a parallel to King George? He used to touch the boys in his court all the time ...

OMG...you're right....heres one that alot of people miss also...I am certain that this relevant group is overlooked by everyone as having the same tendencies...
The Australopithecus...now there was a bunch that I'm glad we are rid of...heard they were mostly democrats.
So now only republicans are pedifiles... Oh I see. Thanks for clearing that up.
No...I don't think anyone thinks that...I will go out on a limb and say most people in this world don't think party lines have any bearing on it. But what we do know is that a republican congressman was soliciting underage congressional pages and even though it was reported the >republican< leadership decided, for whatever reason, (probably to not risk losing a seat) to ignore it.
Now...if thats not playing politics...

Studs was censured by the House. He refused to step down, but his own party repudiated him rather than try to spin his actions or blame the other party. His own party also didn't cover up his actions for a period of years.
Comparison fails.

So 2 of the 3 pages say he was a great guy that acted with proper respect and never did anything wrong, but 1 says he doesn't want to comment, because of future political aspirations.
And the ever present "anonymous source" says "(He) was uncomfortable with the attention Kolbe paid to one of the former pages. He was "creeped out by it," he said, adding that there was a lot of "fawning, petting and touching" on the teenager's arms, shoulders and back by Kolbe.".
I wonder how much of this was looking back at an innocent camping and rafting trip, and allowing the current events to taint the past.
Remember, humans are very flawed when it comes to recalling events, people and places a lot of the time....

I would think if some old dude whipped his penis out at me I'd remember it. Thats a bit different from remembering the color of a car speeding away from a bank that was just robbed at gunpoint.
