I keep seeing people mentioning how they can't add reputation.
I've been keeping the spread adjusted to match the number of active users we have. If you can't rep someone again, you probably only need to leave a few for other people. The spread is very low.

The problem is no one really brings anything good to the table other than me, no one to spend Rep on!

If you're using NoScript, you have to allow scripts from yahooapis.com to be able to give rep, for some reason.

I don't think I have had any issues other than I try to give rep but I guess I've already rep'ed that same person recently. I haven't really considered that broken but as intended.

I always feel as though there's a hesitancy around here about giving bad rep for fear of receiving it in kind.
Otherwise, great system.

I give +reps whenever someone makes a particurlarly good point, or makes me LOL.
I give neg reps to those that are way off base.

Otherwise, great system.I've always felt that bad rep is silly anyhow. The concept of reputation online is, as a whole, somewhat silly - I hope no one around here basis their ego on how high their rep score is. I like it as it provides an additional way to tell someone they wrote something intelligent, a dying event in this day and age.
I get caught by the, "You need to spread the love around!" message frequently.

He has hips? Or did you mean Hippie? If you mean the 1st one, I think that qualifies as a "shower thought"....

I meant, err.. hippy, as in YIPPY! But with an 'h', just to be different. Like a hippie.

Would you guys prefer going back to anonymous rep? I agree that 9/10 of us being able to see rep hits turns it into a very asymmetric system.

It's kind of like the old eBay feedback system, if you left a negative (for a valid reason), you were almost certain to get one back, even if wholly undeserved, especially since many of the spam-sellers used automated "retaliation" feedback systems, for better or worse. Now they changed it so that sellers cannot even leave negative, leaving buyers free to share their real opinions.
Personally an anon rep system here sounds good to me.
Another feature that goes unused here of late is the thread rating system (the little stars 1-5) and the thread icons. Everyone always uses the standard piece of paper looking icon.

The other option that I have considered is moving to a better "points" system, that encourages participation through many aspects. There are some very comprehensive ones available for vBulletin.
Might be a nice change of pace, but I have a feeling some people are a bit attached to their little green dots.
