Going to see it in a couple hours for the 12:01 showing, anybody else going? I'm so incredibly pumped, I think I need to go rub one out. Be back in a bit...

Michael Wilmington in the CHicago Trib posted a review for this movie that was even better than his review of Two Towers. He said that he regretted having to leave the theater after the film - he didn't want it to end

Just got back from seeing it.

I wish they'd cut out the scene with everyone laughing really strange near the end. And, they definitely over did it on the male bonding toward the end. You know it's bad when a theater full of people who're up at 3:30am to see the first showing are laughing at scenes that aren't supposed to be comical.

The rest of it was awesome.

I just returned, its 4 20, I have Latin IV and Calc finals which I will wake up for in 2 hours.... but I'm still astonished. I agree on the laughing scene being a little odd (esp Gandalf), but, for those who have read the books and know how it goes, the ending far surpassed anything I ever thought a director could even fathom, let alone turn into reality. Never before have I seen an entire theatre moved the way we were.... and that is all I can think of right now, I'm still too amazed. Elijah wasn't kidding-- it was better than 1 and 2 combined. See it, now. As in, skip work, call in sick, and see it, now.

I'm a LotR fanatic and I was so glad to see jackson keep some of the best lines in the book intact. The Audience cheered and applauded even tho it was like 140 degrees in there =(

Movie was incredible, truly.

Absolutely fucking awesome! I laughed, I cried and I cheered. People applauded at the end; which I dont understand cause no one on the screen can hear you.

When I was in the theater I was really thinking that the end was drawn out but I really just accepted it after the movie. Those mammoth things were fucking AWESOME.

Sean Astin and Elijah Wood acted their asses off in this one. I noticed that the soundbites used in the trailer and some of the scenes arent there which means they are gonna end up on the extended DVD. lol I wonder how long the extended is gonna be since the "short" version was 3 hours 40 minutes

I heard the extended version for ROTK added a whole extra hour of footage.

one hell of a movie, thats for sure.they deserve what ever awards are tossed at them, and then some.

the DvD is gonna be huge, there was well over an hour trimmed out of the final cut.7 mins alone was the saurman/wormtongue scene.mouth of sauron and the houses of healing scenes (faramir and ewoyn meeting)were also filmed and cut out.
