www.boston.com/business/a...raws_suit/ (http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2003/09/24/recording_industry_withdraws_suit/)

The lawsuit claimed that Ward had illegally shared more than 2,000 songs through Kazaa and threatened to hold her liable for up to $150,000 for each song.

Among the songs she was accused of sharing: "I'm a Thug," by the rapper Trick Daddy.

My great aunt(who is like 70) asked me if I saw the previews for the new tupac movie/documentary. She loves her 2pac and California Love :P

And on another note, I picked up Outkast's double CD yesterday, on first day of release - $11.61 after tax.

You were probably one of the bastards in the 30000 mile line at Tower for the Outkast CD when I was there trying to buy Morbid Angel and Zyklon.

my dad was huge in to napster and kazaa, once i heard they where going to start watching that shit, i told him to stop, every time i see him he asked me if it is ok to start doing it again.

he had about 15 gigs of rock from the 60's and 70's.

he can download it just make sure your not sharing it, what they do is check the md5 checksum and compare it to copywritten material, so take all the songs out of your shared folder as soon as you download them.

do they go after you if you've got movies/software? :(

Their are toys out there to modify the md5 :)

Worst case reencode the mp3's.

do they go after you if you've got movies/software?

The RIAA won't as they have no interests, or very little, in movies and software. However, there may be organizations or companies in the future that will target sharers of different copywrited material.

There was a big BSA (business software alliance) scare a few years back on irc(they shut down some of the leading channels and other shit), until people got smart and started using bnc's... but havent heard much from the BSA since.
