The radio "personalities" here have a dead pool game each year, and Heston has been near the top for a couple years running, due to his advanced Alzheimers (sp).

There was a lot of talk about whether Britney or Charlton would be the next to go, after the last couple celebrities passed on. Morbid, yes.

I enjoyed "The Ten Commandments", but many of his other roles usually left me thinking about what actor would have been better cast.

His ideology spoiled, for me, any regret at his passing I may otherwise have felt.

He did a lot for civil rights which, I believe, his NRA connections in later life have overshadowed. I don't think we should forget his campaigning for equality.

Either way - great actor.

Soylent Green is people!!

Agreeing with the above comments, great actor, didn't realize he walked with MLK for civil rights, but his later politics did outshine a lot of the good work he did. RIP Charlton!!

"Damn you! Damn you all to HELL!"

He uttered some of the best lines in movie history.

R.I.P. Mr. Heston...

Told my wife about this, the first thing she said to me was "maybe the NRA will follow him."

Love his movies, hated some of his political views.

Is that the right bear arms, or arm bears? :) (would make the PETA and NRA people happy).
So sad to see so many of our greatest stars pass on but it's inevitable i guess. Loved "Omega man", Soylent Green, Grey lady down, ben-hur and the ten commandments among others. He will be missed.

He was buried today, and I had the weirdest thought when they talked about his funeral about how funny it would have been if the pall bearers were all dressed in costume from Planet of the Apes.

At one time, years back, I think he would have had a good laugh at that.
