View Full Version : Roger Clemens ... screwed.

As most of you know after the Mitchell Report Clemens said that it was wrong and he never did steroids. Last week he came before Congress to give a deposition. His trainer who testified that he did do steroids gave a deposition later that week. Today the clubhouse manager and a few other folks were supposed to give a deposition before the hearing tomorrow, but early this morning they were told not to come. In essence, there is enough evidence of Clemens taking steroids and lying about it to Congress that their testimony isn't needed.
On one hand Clemens might change his tune and confess at the hearing tomorrow ... but as he at this moment is going from Representative to Representative trying to sweet talk them onto his side I'm doubtful.
Its one thing to cheat and take steroids. Its another to lie about it under oath to 40 members of congress when there is tons of evidence against you. Maybe he'll share a cell with Bonds?

I am still trying to figure out what the fuck Congress is doing getting mixed up in this issue at all. How does anything they may do as a result of these hearings contribute to taking care of the country's business? And where are the Republicans who scream for less government intrusion?

It started as an education issue. High school students taking steroids is at record highs. Baseball asked Congress to get involved after pressure to lose their no monopoly status. Then when Mitchell's report came back with disputes these hearings are govt oversight related. Its all pretty straightforward and exactly what those commitees are supposed to involve themselves with.
In essence take steroids out of professional sports and college kids no longer feel they need them to "make it" and then high school kids don't need to take them to be competitive to get the good college scholarships. Since the professional sports did such a horrible job policing themselves the government had to get involved.

They should attack Pro Wrestling then. Kids see Uge dudes body slamming each other, that would insite some inner urge to be massive. I never looked at a baseball player and said, damn he must be pushing roids to be soo good. Its more apparent in football if anything.

Pro Weestling doesn't have monopoly exempt status though. Basketball and football had their hearings already last year along with baseball in front of Commerce... this hearing is govt oversight not the original hearings each sport had.
I'm sure the FBI will look into Wrestling, they are here monitoring the hearing today and were on the Mitchell investigation.

They have, multiple times. WWE didn't put in a large testing program and fire/suspend a bunch of employees to make the world a better place, they did because of pressure from the goverment and media.

Well its still not working. To have a male in his late 20's early 30's, to be 280+ pounds and sub 10%BF has nearly impossible.
