View Full Version : Sad news from Atlanta...

I don't know how many folks still frequenting the boards remember Mezmith, and feel rather uncomfortable mentioning this news on a public board, but for those who know him, I am sad to report that I found out from a close friend last night that he was involved in a serious car accident on Sunday. The accident itself was serious but not life-threatening (broke both of his legs), but he suffered a fat embolism as a result of the fractures which blocked an artery serving his brain. He is currently unconscious in the hospital and it is uncertain what the extent of the damage is at this point.

I was very upset to hear this news as he is a very bright and personable young man whom I had the pleasure of getting to know through this game and one never expects such horrible tragedies to affect one so young. If it is your wont, consider him today in your thoughts/prayers...

Sincerely,

OMG I'm so sorry to hear this. I'll never forget when I first met Mezmith - I had said something to a druid in OOC and he sent me a tell "hehe just for that you get KEI." We were friends ever after.

PS: Drakz if you are reading this, tell him and talk to him that we are all thinking of him and wishing him to return to good health.

I'm sorry to hear this...even though I think I only grouped with him once, he was really a great player from what I saw. I think it was when I randomly popped into HS and offered to help him and Darkmelusine (not sure on spelling), and a boxed Erham (again, spelling is prolly off) get a spirit wracked urn. I don't think it dropped for DM, but it was a fun morning group. I hope he recovers as quickly and painlessly as possible.

As of last night, he was still in a coma :/. I was hesitant to post because the news was not positive. I will let you know if I hear of any change...

Eric is still in a coma as of my last call. Josh and I have both been to visit for what it is worth :(

Keep him in your prayers (if you are into that thing).

He's a good kid.

Hey Larkious :)

Unfortunately, I'm no longer in Atlanta (as of last year, actually), and got my news from Josh via Blearchie (who has since posted). I initiated the thread because I figured that some folks here might wish to be informed of the situation, and he could certainly use the thoughts/prayers...

Sincerely,

A friend of mine was in ICU, totally unconcious it seemed. We went to see her and whispered around her. Tried to speak to her, but nothing. One time though, as we whispered, her hand rose up and started grasping at the air in a really scary way. We all shrank back, terrified, thinking her in pain or just reflexively grabbing at air, with no mind left.

Except for this one guy who was with us, a Tibetan Buddhist monk. He was the only one who didn't shrink back. Instead, he reached out and she grabbed his hand and held it, tightly. He spoke to her saying "You don't scare, never never worry, your friends are here."

We had been scared of her, her sickness, her hand reaching out like that, but meanwhile, she was scared somewhere lost inside that coma and only that monk "got" that.

Later she recovered. She told me that she could hear voices, but she couldn't move - like a bad dream. Just that one time, somehow she willed her hand up because she knew that monk was there and wanted to ask him for help and it gave her a great comfort when he held her hand.

So the reason I'm telling you this, is you don't know, Eric could be inside there listening to you, but unable to show you in anyway that he hears. I'm sure you've all read that it is really good to speak to people in comas, anyway. Just thought I'd post this one anecdote as an example of it really helping.

Never met this gentleman BUT I do agree with Ruthie on this .. My mother was in a coma last year for about a month after having a spinal stroke and believe me ai was there everyday a zillion times a day talking to her . She now tells me she heard me and if it wasn't for me and other family members talking to her she might not of been able to come out!

I will add to my personal prayer list , everyone needs them whether we know them or not !

I really hate to hear this about mez. He is a great guy. My son was a lower level wizard and mez always took time out of his busy schedule to help him. I will keep mez in my prayer and hope that he will be ok.
