Okay I have a question. How in the hell is Saddam able to carry out his threat to return to trial? Isn't he a prisoner? Here in America you try that stunt and you get brought in shackles and a gag if neccessary. Now they have delayed the case to the 21st of this month.

Do you think that perhaps the Judge has decided to allow Saddam to further demonize himself? To make a bigger spectacle out of himself than is already present?

Frankly I'm confused. IMHO it's best for all if the case is presented and the verdict rendered before the elections.

You have trials in America?

I thought it was off to the torture chamber if you were found wanting.

Or where in England they just gun you down in the subway.

According to Iraqi law, Saddam can refuse to attend the rest of the trial if he wants too, though it doesn't stop the trial from moving forward.

I'm sure it'll be a more speedy trial without his rants of "Go to hell!"

Ahhhh now I didn't know that Tale thanks.

Same effect as having him there gagged I guess. Long as he swings if found guilty.

Oh and Halo, while our court system doesn't require our Judges and Lawyers to wear funny powdered wigs it is still due process.

Fanny, your law courts take place in the ex-Soviet Bloc, it seems.

'Or where in England they just gun you down in the subway.'

- Or at the airport, for you Yanks. Well, let's face it, they gun you down everywhere in America, eh.

You're getting as vapid as Taino (I know all about America I seen over 1500 American movies) ever was about our culture Halo.

Don't base your opinion on our culture merely from the bang bang flick you watched at your pub while smashing that guiness over the head of your mate while brawling over the latest 1-0 soccer score mate.

Saddam is simply confused, that's all. He'd simply have had himself shot, and he cna't figure out why we haven't done that.

Maybe he's right. Maybe the trial isn't legitimate and he should just be dumped free on the streets (in the Kurdish area or maybe a Shia neighborhood) after suitable announcements of the fact.

Amen. Street justice would be the way to go for me too. I'm a fan of letting his victims line up, and each get a swing with a ball bat at him avoiding the head till last. He was a monster, raised monsters, and was responsible for thousands of horrible and pointless deaths. Hell, he created a position in his government that was responsible for raping female prisoners. Doubt me?

Here's our official factsheet (http://www.state.gov/g/wi/rls/18877.htm) on Saddam's crimes, and I can provide links to other more objective sites that back these facts up if you'd like. He deserved to be taken out of power, and no matter how the exit happens, I believe we've done good for that country.

You're welcome not to show up for your trial most places too -- they'll just have it without you. If you plan on being disorderly in court, they'll gladly let you watch your sentance be handed out over CCTV.

I'd love to see Saddam hanging. Call me sick if you will, but that would just really make me happy.

Okay, Jaeydee, but you only get one turn with the piƱata bat. It's a long, long line.
