I'm surprised he wasn't arrested as a terrorist. Getting a round ticket to the Middle East, then hiking all the way up into a warzone on account of 'wanting first hand experience' (even if his parents were Iraqi refugees, which is what I heard on NPR) is someone who either has no common sense, or is really really insane. Or a terrorist, which is a possibility given the circumstances.
