Maybe a month or so back I got a blind-poll phone call for Vernon Robinson (http://www.vernonrobinson.com/), who is running for Congress.

Let me tell you something about political polls. If they call me up, I always give radical, nonsense answers to the questions if it is a live call, or, if it is recorded, I answer as far away from my own political views as I can. It really doesn't matter which party is calling me, I just like to always have that little segment in the pie chart that says "Other responses less than 1%". It comforts me.

Anyhow, the poll dealt with a lot of immigration issues, so I answered as many of them in a xenophobic and bigoted way as possible. Well, tie me up and call me doggy, don't you know that this guy's political ad is pretty much a rote pandering to the answers I gave? This dude scares me, big time.

What scares me more is that enough people gave the same type of ignorant, ass-hat answers to motivate this guy to put that drivel out as his campaign ad. Either everyone was serious and I really need to get the fuck out of this backwards, two-bit state or they got enough pranksters to take the poll that it skewed the data.

One of those options is likely true, the other one is a comforting lie that might help me sleep better at night
