Anti-gay lawmaker who turns out to be gay resigns. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,307097,00.html)

It's sad to see so many Republicans holed up in their closets, only to blow their careers like this. There's no glory in reaching around for explanations. Withdrawing is best in the end.

Is this more proof for homophobia or just ignorance?

It will be the Cartman philosophy:

"Hey guys, look. Butters was asleep and I put his penis in my mouth. That makes Butters gay."

Seriously, how many anti-gay politicians have been going down this road (no pun intended)? And for that matter, how many holier than thou politicians end up being exposed for the same behaviors they insist on pointing fingers at their opponents for, or campaign against, and have to then remove themselves from office in disgrace?

Maybe if someone can convince politicians to get back to the business of running the country and get out of the country's bedrooms and churches, we can not only avoid these expose' headlines but also start seeing the country run a tad smoother, with actual bread and butter issues being acted upon.

Or, if we are going to continue having our politicians spend so much time on religious based issues (which abortion and gay rights clearly are), maybe it is time to put an amendment before the nation to change our constitution and allow church and state to work hand in hand. Of course, this would also involve a national referendum on what religion will be the state religion, and which book will be followed.

I bet we could get as nutty as the Taliban with our Christian zealots.

And Thor, your response deserves some pun-itive measures.

Thor, I'm not sure if what you wrote was real, or supposed to be a series of thinly disguised homosexual puns... LOL
Anyways, rather that the guy being gay, dosen't anyone find the other guy trying to blackmail him, despicable?

Actually, it is a pretty common plotline used in numerous TV shows, books and movies, whether it be hetero- or homo- sex. And yes, it is always despicable when someone tries to blackmail as is alleged here, because in almost all cases there are families and careers damaged or ruined.

in a more serious reply ... hopefully this will lead to some good. lets face the facts. probably 10 percent of our population is homosexual. probably a few regular posters on this forum even at that statistic. despite the religious claims it is beginning to be believed by the scientific community that it is nature and not nurture that makes one gay. if you believe in God it is God that makes someone gay. there is nothing physically wrong with these people and should not be a pariah in our modern and evolved society and any attemps to prevent them from being accepted is the real sin. a little more accepting who you are is desperately called for

probably 10 percent of our population is homosexualThat's the high end of the hypothesized range. More recently, I've seen 2-5% suggested, which is still quite a few across the population of a nation. Except Iran, of course.

I'd buy that. After all, Rep. Richard Curtis and Rep. Mark Foley and Sen. Larry Craig aren't gay.

If 5% of the country says they are gay, there's probably another 5% that are just ashamed to admit it.

The Flying Camel!

First you position the headboard of your bed an inch from the wall. Second, set your partner up doggystyle and make sure the head is only a few inches from the headboard. Third, as you're pounding away, their head will hit the headboard which will, in turn, hit the wall making a galloping noise. Finally, as all this is happening, wave your arms in the air and make noises like a camel.

Im expecting Akipt and Furtivus to come out and admit to giving each other the Flying Camel. I actually like farm animals. Your mother's screech was particularly arousing.
