Here's (http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/europe/09/25/france.us.carddeck.ap/index.html) a link to a story about a parody 'deck of cards' made in France (more power to them, I thought the deck idea was pretty dumb). The question I have is about this:

Meyssan is the author of a one-time French best seller, "9-11: The Big Lie," claiming that no plane ever crashed into the Pentagon on September 11, and that the attacks were plotted by a faction within the U.S. military.

Have any of the Euro's read or heard of this book? I'm curious as it was a best seller over on that side of the pond, and therefore may be representative of the general opinion. I might pick it up and read it if so to get a better idea of others perceptions.

Dear lord please dont flame me, this is an honest question. We have stupid books that make bestseller over here too, so I'm not trying to be derisive.

The Europeans usually don't flame you ... they will present reasons and then get flamed.

So no worries about being flamed by them.

'I'm curious as it was a best seller over on that side of the pond, and therefore may be representative of the general opinion'

- Couldn't be further from the truth.
It's usually just the opposite. People read things of opposing opinion or radical views because of a number of reasons. Mainly because it's just interesting.
I think the people who believe the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre was staged, are those that don't believe the moon landing happened.

Take for example my newspaper. I'm a leftie. But I'm a daily reader of the Daily Express, a right winged paper.

Never heard of the book never read it.

Yup, most people that buy these books and read them do so because they are curious, want to hear different opinions or just want a good laugh.

The writer usually writes these kinds of books, with money in mind. They know that these things sell, so they add to the controversy in order to sell more books.
The link you provided was about a card game, the story refers to a book.
I think they just released this card game to get publicity for the book and by you're own admission it seems to work.
I don't think this book was a best seller, or we would have heard about it sooner and not via a card-game.
In my opinion this is just a stunt to sell more books and make some cash.
People will buy anything if you approach them with a good story or the premise of one.

Thanks for the answers guys. I figured it was something like that - but thought I'd burn some EZboard space and ask.

Take everything with a grain of salt - especially when it's from CNN :D

The book was pretty much panned in the press IIRC.
