While watching CNN this morning, they mentioned something about this. They said that the thing that would drive them to becoming a US state is if they had an attack like we had on 9/11. The advantages? Well...they would be apart of a strong military, have the US dollar (strongest currency), be apart of a high education rate, and sports would be better lol. But what do you all think of this, i doubt it would happen, but "what if" :P And also, it makes ya wonder if the US would secretly set something up to help push them to join the US, who knows, just something to talk about :p

While Canadians technically are "Americans" they are not "Americans" as you are using the term. They are a seperate country which lies geographically north of the country of "The United States of America." Australians are in no sense "Americans," either geographically or otherwise.

Australia has got to know the US would never let anyone smack them around. Why would they want to become a state? Why would the US be interested in annexing them? Our cultures are different enough that only tension would ensue and there is really no good reason to combine our nations. Better to remain friends and have each country rule itself . We can always assist each other when needed without the headaches of incorporating different systems into a larger country.
