Sleeper hit of season. Homeworld meets Master of Orion and plays like starcraft. Only thing missing is a campaign series with some cinematic cheese to introduce you into each race, but once you play a few one on ones vs the computer with each race you get the hang of it. So far everyone's complaining that all three races are unbalanced, so that means it's balanced :).
The same feeling you get with civilization of "just got to play one more turn", only there are no turns. Same feeling you get playing a good match of starcraft, only the tech tree is many many many times longer.
I am losing way too much sleep to this game.

I loved master of orion, and i picked up civ4 again this week (always pick it up for a few weeks a couple times of year, whatever version is the newest. ). I might have to get this.
Thanks for the recommendation

I bought this the other day but really havent had time to give it a good run. I've just done the tutorials, but I can see already that it has great potential to be massively addicting.

one of the neat things is that it automatically saves a recording of your game, such that in addition to just saving your game, you can save the record up to that point.
It has a watch mode that lets you watch your recordings, so you can view your victories or defeats from the point of view of any of the participants, and set it to cinematic mode, so all the things you need to have to play the game are gone so you can just watch the gorgeous space battles. After spending 8 hours and finally winning a 4 player map, I found it equally fun to watch the same game at 8x speed in cinematic mode, changing perspective between the races, slowing down to 1x speed for the battles, and taking the point of view of one of the fighter wings.
Note that it's more starcrafty than master of oriony....in that the only victory condition is annihilation of your opponents.
