No we killed the sleeper, Darkwind started a massive thread about it that extended into like 40+ pages, shame it was lost :( was i think it was something like "A question about sleepers tomb..."

We basically killed the sleeper to cockblock IVM progression :( They had just gathered enough keys to finally kill the Wardens, i think they got 1 set before we woke it.

This guy i'm not sure was even in darkwind, or got some wierd history lesson from after joining. Any American guild bitched about the Euro time zone advantage, but for the most part we stayed pretty far ahead of Darkwind. Them and Coterie Noctre (The rival uber guilds to EW back in the day on Ayonae ro) Both chose Dragon faction which crippled their progression (I think only Zlandicar wasnt on Temple of Veeshan faction so we were farming Zlandicar, Lendaria, Yelinak, and got most of Zlandicars for months before they realized how stupid they were), and Coterie Noctre soon folded due to leadership issues/lack of progression and formed Forged Unity under new leadership then folded and most went to CB or EW.
Darkwind got their fair share of Tormax's and a few Yelinaks from us, but we never let them get a Vulak, and when the server moves options for the Euros came up, we all skipped work/school and cleared Ntov at 8am after a patch to help them decide on their transfer option.

Twas Eternal Wrath that awoke the sleeper. I was one of the last when he went beserk ...go go WS for the win...then he ate me.

Think twas Aeno that met the sleeper in one of the scripted cities listed for destruction.

Eternal Wrath was far enough ahead of Darkwind that a few well planned missions to clear NTOV during DW's time shift that they decided to flee the server in hopes of easier competition.

Eternal Wrath destroyed the ST script to block IVM...yes we were pricks and yes I, along with many others in EW at the time, received hateful tells.

Was hella fun tho and I had/have to applaud Drizzen's plan...

Dude WoW raiding pales in comparison to EQ because of no competition - its you vs the environment (yawn)

Funny, I really like 'you vs the environment' raiding, and I've got a pretty clear idea of what would happen in WoW, were it otherwise, by witnessing what happens with the few world spawns on our server now now - they're farmed by two Alliance guilds, and the several Horde guilds who could handle them rarely gets as much as a sniff at them, one guild in particular even deliberately sending folks to die on Lord Kazzak when a Horde guild got him to 8% once, then took him while they were recovering, just to screw them :).

When Faervas and I rolled up our EQ characters in Jaunary of 2001 on A Ro, we were directed to it because it was one of the new (green) servers, and we were directed to it. Little did we know that it had recently been formed via transfers from three older servers, and was populated by some of the most jaded, cutthroat people across EQ. I don't regret meeting some of the interesting folks we encountered in our 4 1/2 years on A Ro, but this just shows that our disdain for many 'uberguilders' was well founded. No offense to Drizzen, EW, or any of the other folks who take pleasure in screwing people over in order to get that big one-up tingle, but it's not my flavor of ice cream, and the sight of another guild forming up to snatch one of the scraps that were our targets didn't fill me with excitement, but tension and nausea. Not having to worry about another guild ruining your fun just because they *can* (entrances to instances on PvP servers notwithstanding) makes WoW a *lot* more fun in my eyes, even if I do miss my enchanter and the old Hate, Fear, and Chardok AE raids, as well as some of my friends, although many have made the trek to Alleria/Horde.

Hope everyone is having fun wherever the virtual winds have taken them :).

With regards to competition, the only thing I miss terribly is that it gave me a chance to make fun of Kinu. :( The rest always seemed like a pain in the ass; granted, a lot of funny shit came out of guild rivalries.

I don't skate by A Ro very often these days either, but it's nice crossing paths with you. How long have you had the new website? And are you able to do your photography full time now? Yes, I am a full time photographer now. I can actually make a living from it. Things are going well. Been a tough time the last years when I tried to make a living from photography. Still am in dept with the taxes but besides that I'm fine.

And indeed, the swiss alternate program for women during the World Cup is a great thing. If ladies like you join, I'll help out aswell :D

The Vanguard boards have a lot of traffic lately. They went from 20k members in Nov. to over 80k members lately.

I did not get a chance to see that thread progress, because it got buried quickly.
But yeah, I remember killing the 4th warder, (and yes I am not denying the reason we killed it), most of our plans were to follow the sleeper around do the different zones.

Unfortunately, I was killed shortly before the sleeper awoke. However the sleeper did get stuck in skyshrinne I believe, and just killed people continuously until a GM despawned him.

I think the thing that bummed me out the most when EW woke the sleeper is that IvM was in ToV at the time and since he got stuck in Skyshrine and then despawned, we never got to see him.

I remember Reznor (Gingeko) saying something about black text. And I was like, do you mean white text?

We argued for a bit until he realized that I was still playing on that old UI even after Kunark was released.

I had two level 60 characters before I switched to the new UI.

One time while competing for the spawn in VT, me and 5 other guildees each logged into about 6 other accounts and made it seem to our competitors that we we had the numbers and were forming for a raid...we held the spawn for about 3 hours or so until people actually started logging in.

I remember *Hoping* not to get picked for the sleeper's tomb key.... In CB we didn't have a lot of keys for a while so all the clerics had to go. I much rathered going to exp while they were stuck in there.... until one day my name got called :(

Oh, and cockblocking is fun when you are doing the blocking.... :)

A noob question - why does waking up the sleeper cockblock anyone? Arent prismatic exactly the same weapons as primals? Whats the difference?

Initially it all but shut down the Tomb, top that off with denying the other guilds the opportunity to farm the 4 warder gear and there you have it.

How do you win EQ?

When you're in lower tier guilds, it's always fun to do the things you thought of as "uber". After all the publicity about Sleeper, we keyed up eagerly in about 3 months. We went, cleared down, and never returned =) Not sure if anyone even used their Primals. Think Meggan liked her Gnome Mask though.

Eq was fun until the dumbed it down and made it too much of the same. I still consider returning at times but am currently just having fun on WoW atm on my priest and warlock. ALOT less stress imho...

Still, it was fun raiding back in the days till Sony overdid it on expansions.
But just my 2 cp though....

People that haven't played any of the higher end content in the last 3-4 expansions love to say this. The raid enviornment of the last 3-4 expansions are by far the most in depth, creative, difficult encounters ever inserted into the game. One just has to see the Overlord Mata Murum, Performer, Sullon Zek, Deathknell, Suchen, etc. encounters to see how amazing the High end raid content in eq is at the present time.
