- What do you think?
I'm slightly torn. On the one hand, I used to get a right smacking every now and then when I was a kid, and, to paraphrase my nan, "it's never done me any harm". And to quote my father, "the world is turning upside down" (though that is the same man who's been known to call the Koran a 'terrorist's handbook').
In terms of the law, there's no doubt about the floodgates opening up, as if the courts weren't such a tedious and inefficient process already. Not to mention the subject bringing the case to trial, but also to prove that the bruise was gained through malice.. just seems like a legal mess.
Yet on the other hand, with an increase in child abuse and so much red tape around being able to bring abusive parents to justice, this seems like a god-send.
Wow, I really am torn.
