Or maybe not....
At the How To Take Back America Conference last weekend, conservative speaker Kitty Werthmann led a workshop called "How to recognize living under Nazis & Communists ..."
During her session, Werthmann went through a litany of examples of how President Obama is like Adolf Hitler. She noted that Hitler, who acted "like an American politician," was "elected in a 100% Christian nation." Although she failed to once mention Antisemitism or militarism, Werthmann explained how universal healthcare, an Equal Rights Amendment, and increased taxes were telltale signs of Nazism. Werthmann also warned the audience:
If we had our guns, we would have fought a bloody battle. So, keep your guns, and buy more guns, and buy ammunition. [...] Take back America. Don’t let them take the country into Socialism. And I refer again, Hitler’s party was National Socialism. [...] And that’s what we are having here right now, which is bordering on Marxism.
What makes this more scary is that so many prominent Republicans and elected officials were there...

I work with a good ole boy from Oklahoma. Staunch Republican. We were on a job the other day and he saw a Obama/Biden campaign button on a cork board in the office space we were working on. He fiegned picking his nose and wiping a booger on the button.
I don't consider him to be very politically savy, but he is convinced that the USA is edging dangerously close to another civil war or at the very least a fragmentation of the Union. I personally don't buy it, but an arguement could be made that the more fantical fringes might be considering violence. Polls tend to reflect though that the majority of the voters are moderates and that both Republicans and Democrats have much in common. All the close elections reflect this.

A fringe is a fringe is a fringe. Jumping up and down because you found an example of "right" fringe is just biased bullshit. I'd no more tolerate thier actions and opinions than I do those of you who rewrite history to try and push the wacko far left agenda.

when you call bullshit... can you come back with some facts please?
The left, while of course there are always a few wackos on either side, has nothing on the escalation of volume and violent potential that we are seeing from right. The right is mainstreaming rhetoric that inevitably leads to violence.. period. You cannot delegitimize a leader and not expect violent recourse from those upon whom you have acheived your objective.
From bringing guns to presidental meetings, to major right wing news outlets calling for a military coup, to following the implied advice of Glen Beck and Michelle Bauchman, a census worker being murdered.
There a downward spiral of increasing radicalism that you cannot deny. If you don't think its dangerous, then you should read a fucking book.

Why do republicans hate democracy? Obama won the general election, by a majority I might add, unlike Bush who lost the majority but was given the election by the supreme court. Your party lost, so you want to fight about it? Thats not how democracy works. You want to fight to take back "your" country? FU, this isnt your country.

Hmmmm no, I don't have an issue Obama losing ya thick headed twit. I voted for him, did you actually take time out to vote this year?
This polarizing bs from the left is just as bad as it was coming from the right. However it's okay now because they're on the side of the majority.
HELLO THIS IS THE SAME TYPE OF SHIT YOU'VE BITCHED ABOUT FOR 8 YEARS.
Pull your heads out and don't jump in the sheeple train.

A majority of 26% of the population that voted.. A mandate? I think not. This is all going to come to a boiling point sooner then later and I know what side im on.. Do you?

A majority of 26% of the population that voted..
If folks did not vote, they have no business bitching now, same as was said after the previous election.
It is sad that the Republican Party and it's leadership have decided it is a better course of action to point fingers and obstruct and flame the fringe folks to further idiocy, rather than step forward and join in the work of getting the nation back on a strong footing and be able to claim credit for their efforts in future election campaigns.
The Republicans want much of what the Democrats want, but they are not willing to allow it to come to fruition under a Democrat leader; it must have their stamp, or none at all. It is getting more pathetic with each passing news cycle.

The side that jerks off to "Red Dawn"?
Calm down Francis.
White Middle Class Americans don't "rise up". They wear silly costume and make "clever" signs. They facebook, twitter or blog about angry they are. They have protests and marches. And when one of them does something stupid, like blows up a building or shoots someone.... they recoil.

I didn't vote this past election. I was in Baghdad. I had more important shit to do. Thus I try not to complain. I still do though.
Why? Its not because Obama did this or McCain would have do that. etc.
Because our political system is bordering on the dysfunctional. Our elected representatives and officials are too busy hen pecking each others on trivial matters of ideology but in the end all they have been doing lately is closing the barn door after the horse is long gone. The world keeps moving and the country's problems don't go away just because so many of our entrusted members of government decide to constantly take time outs to try to slander, insult, marginalize and derail what the opposition party is doing. Dammit you are supposed to be working for US THE FUCKING PEOPLE and not spending all your energy smearing your counter part on the other side of the aisle.
If there ever was violence, once can only hope it takes out the whole worthless lot, and not just members of Party X or Party Y.

Damn you Lum, now I have to go watch "Dave" again! That speech Kevin Kline gives near the end of the movie in the Senate chambers, where he says basically that he is a temp employee hired by the people really sums it all up.
I get chills every time I watch that movie.

There are so many legitimate things for "true" conservatives to be outraged by these days. Ill give you three. How about AIG paying out 100 cents on the dollar for every CDS on the books once they received the check from the government. How about Merril Lynch (John Thain) paying out nearly 4 billion in bonuses a week before BofA bought them, even though Merril lost billions that year. The federal deficit was 5.6 trillion dollars when Bush Jr took over in 2000. It was 10.4 trillion, sept 2008. It is 11.9 trillion now, largely due to the bailout / tarp that Bush pushed, and the democrat congress rolled over for.
If you dont know or care anything about these three things, you call yourself a conservative, and you attend / cheerlead teabaggers, then you are a steamy lump of dog shit.

Apples: Fiscal Conservative
Oranges: Social Conservative
True, many peg Democrats as a bunch of Tax and Spend Social Liberals or so goes the stereotype. On the Republican side as of late, at least in the Dubya camp, he was indeed trying to champion the Middle America core values of family and faith, but he spent money like a drunk'n sailor in a red light district. Just because someone is a Democrat does not mean they are automatically immune to being a skinflint and on the flip side just because someone is a Republican that they are automatically a financial wizard either. Many people in government, regardless of their camp, still get sucked into the big numbers that are the funds that the government kicks around and seem to feel that all to often its a well that will never run dry, regardless of how big your bucket is. More often than not as of late, its the Suitcase in "Dumb and Dumber" which in the end is full of nothing but IOUs.

It appears that people who try to work woth numbers that large, simply can't grasp that there is a limit to what can be acomplished. Its almost as if they believe there is an endless money pit.

He spent money like it was growing on trees because he thought God would swoop in and pick up the tab, thats when of course he wasn't looking into Putin's soul.
