Room full of people and only 1, maybe 2 of them, actually tried to restrain him?

Typical Genovese effect. Unfortunately, most of us would do the same in a group that size.

The frame rate is so wacky, everyone seems to be rocking back and forth and jerky, I'd have to assume thats legitimately security camera footage. The stuff looks very similar to a lot of the footage we get for America's Most Wanted's "Fugitive of the Week" segment.

Seriously? Why on earth would you ask that other employees be obligated in some way to stop this nutcase? What would be the point of risking bodily injury over property damage?
Screw that, call the cops and grab some popcorn I say.

The other employees should have reacted when one of them was hit with a monitor at the very beginning. As for the property damage, yeah, youtube it.

If you are afraid for your personal safety, leave the room.

I don't honestly know what I would do if one of my co-workers flipped like that. I'd probably stand and stare in shock too. I certainly wouldn't try to tackle a madman.

I don't know, maybe it's because I work at a building that periodically receives bomb threats and accusations that we're using the microwave array to control people's brains, but if that started going down here I know at least half my coworkers would have tackled the guy until security got there.

Unless you've thought about the situation before, I think most people are likely to choose not to intervene. Which is not to sound macho at all, but that's why training and planning is important. This is why we hold fire drills - not because it actually takes practice to exit a building, but so that people will know to actually move when they hear the alarm, and not sit and wonder if they should actually exit a building.

Yeah, statistically speaking, you guys are completely overestimating how likely you would be to intervene.
If you were the only one present, you would be much more likely to do something. However, in a group of several people or more, you're very likely not to do anything.
People who break that mold are rare, and it's usually due to training causing them to act without thinking.
It's nothing to do with how "brave" you are. It's just how our brains are wired.

Unless I'm employed as a security guard or something, the smart thing to do is get out of the room.
What is the guy going to do, follow me while carrying a 50 pound monitor?

Maybe it's just my military back ground, but if I saw someone hurting someone else, I'd be more inclined to restrain the person being violent.
In fact, I've done just such a thing....
Guess I'm wired differently, than most.
I'd encave his skull with my barehands like I did Sanchek that one time!

This should have made the news shortly after it happened, and yet I haven't found a single story in Canada or Europe, which lends me to wonder if it was legit or not. But they definitely used a security camera and a cell phone camera for the footage.

If it's French or Dutch, then it's likely a European story. We don't report on that garbage here, we only care about the real news, like what shoes Brittany bought this week.

They do actually speak French and Dutch outside of Europe. Thats why I also sifted through the first week of June in Carribean and Canadian news outlets. Haven't found it anywhere, which lends me to believe it may be staged.
