Does it bother anyone else that two major US resource networks have failed in a week's time? First the East has no power, and now we have no gas out here. So what happens if we end up in a real war or natural disaster? Good to see how prepared we are.

www.cnn.com/2003/US/Southwest/08/12/gasoline.crunch.ap/ (http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Southwest/08/12/gasoline.crunch.ap/)

The article doesn't even come close to the real situation. Gas is $2.50 up the street from me, and there's a line of cranky cars that runs about half a block back. Gas stations are even limiting people to certain amounts that they can buy at one time. Thats when you can find one still open. Lucky me, my tank is basically empty and my poor car is stuck at work.

ARGGGH!!! (sorry, had to vent somewhere)

Anyone else hit with this at a bad time?

...in short, most gas stations are still open, there's just long lines and temporarily inflated prices.

I live in Georgia so I think the gas station up the road has gas for 1.29, not certain cause I dont drive. But its nice and cheap here, make all the inbreeding jokes you wish.

Most of what I passed last night and today was still closed Palimax.

Wouldn't be so bad, but I never had time to fill up last week. Could be a loooong bike ride to work tomorrow.

Just filled up today at $1.67. It's been around that for weeks now though.

Heh. Relax. It was worse than this in Chicago a summer or two ago when one of either 2 or 3 pipelines went down.

I'd worry if the outages were in any way connected to each other. THey aren't.

Gasoline and Natural gas are actually at record lows when you index the cost to inflation.

Buy a camel and you don't have to worry about inflated Gas prices.

Just mountains of shit, hay, and slobber.

1) I wish my parents bought me Power Wheels as a kid.
2) I have my own car that I surprisingly bought/paid for with my own money and credit.
3) I live in Southern California, when people want to bitch about gas prices I just chuckle.
4) So sweetie pie, you're batting .333, 1) I am indeed fucked on gas prices regardless especially in my neighborhood. 2) I do own a car. 3) Mommy and daddy didn't buy me a Big Wheel the cheap fuckers.

Nice try though.

I dont mind paying outrageous amounts for fuel because it thins out the number of SUV drivers. And that is a good thing. :D

Yea it's always amusing seeing a huge ass SUV pay $90 to fill up its tank two times a week.

Yea it's always amusing seeing a huge ass SUV pay $90 to fill up its tank two times a week. I used to have a Land Rover 8i. And yeah...I got rid of it because the gas mileage was awful.

Heh France is around 2.80/3 $ the gallon if I calculate correctly. Sound bad xept cars consume twice less gas :p

I drive an SUV, but it gets roughly comparable gas mileage as the Honda I used to drive. Larger tank though. Those $35 fillups always hurt to watch.

I heard that, because of the power outage the gas companies did not receive the amount of gas they normally do, and that is why the prices are temporarily escalated.

*shrug* I live next door to work. I can and often DO walk if needed.
