Its probably not SoT's fault. This is going to be an all too familiar tune as people spend more time in WoW and EQ2 among others and raid leaders find they don't have the people anymore.

Lets see. Got 5 hours to play an online game. Do I get 2-3 levels, explore some new lands and finish some quests

do I sit and wait for people to log in, then go off to Plane_Of_Stale_Content and proceed to whipe, lose levels and go home without so much as a platinum piece to show for 5 hours of effort? Granted this does not take into account such forms of chit chat as cyb0r etc etc, but even that loses its appeal. People that are guildmates and best of friends discover they can still be guildmates and best of friends in a NEW game and have the added bonus of a completly fresh game world (instead of a glossed over version of the same old shit) and solid character advancement as well to boot.

Lot of guild are about to have problems...2 weeks until eq2 release and probably same 2 weeks and WoW open beta starts.

Keeping around geared, experienced, clerics who actually wanted to play on a nightly basis so a guild could move forward was a major problem when I had just left SOT. I joined a guild to raid and we did for many years, when that changed, I moved on..as did many others. Still a good guild id imagine if you wanted to kill one group mobs with a 20+ raid force or you simply wanted to log in each night to chat.

One things for sure is when Kinens stepped down, and many of the core officers at the time stepped down, forward progression halted. For some that doesnt matter, hence the stragglers, but for many others thats not what they wanted to do.

Actually PoT is going strong and continues to grow. PART of our mandate was to provide people for SoT, but we've really not had the chance yet LOL, seeing as how the guild is not even a month old yet. 200+ members and more coming everyday. Our vision has changed little (with the exception of two mandatory raid nights a week) and the future is most certainly bright.

Unfortunately, I am uncertain about the goings on within SoT. I don't know if what will remain after the shuffle will want to keep this arrangement alive. I am hoping they will as it is of mutual benefit to either guild. I can only hope that I recieve word soon regarding this matter after everything settles down.

Playing a cleric in a guild that is not moving forward is like slamming your nuts in a desk drawer continuously for 5 hours every night. Final Destiny was a great guild for me, but I could just not weather another rebuilding period after a split. Being absent for 6 month stretches at a time due to deployments makes that a tough pill to swallow. The rules became very Politically Correct (a chat nice policy) in order to not offend new membership and drive them away. This was my coffin nail. Already bored to tears and pissed by the lack of progress and just could not put on a fake grin and hit the CH key, buff, and rez for yet another SRT minis raid anymore. I ended up in the crosshairs of the officers. They were so glad when I decided to finally delete my toon, I'm surprised they didn't make the day a guild holiday complete with parades and a big feast. Maybe even a marathon!

FD survives. Its unknown if level 70 had as much to do with it as their leadership or if the claim that some made that I was killing the guild with my own bad attitude was true or not. They are progressing, so there is examples of guilds splitting but persevering. This time around for guilds its going to be harder to tell. I went to Lineage 2 because there was no other choices really. I would have liked to say I could have quit games completely, but there just isn't that much good stuff on TV and my budget only allows so much money for going out on the town. Now there is a multitude of choices on the horizon, and even the most hardcore of EQ raiders might get curious and check them out. For the ones that are burned out, its almost a no brainer.

To elaborate it more, Landslide will not disband for two reasons:

1. LS disbanding would make a thousand souls sigh in relief and we can't let that happen. So we will stick around just out of defiance.

2. We have clerics who can tank, pull, CC and a truckload of wizards with maxed out bandage skill. Also we have people who can (and happy to) write a long essay about tank balance any time of the day; so the mobs rather hand over their loot and commit suicide than to see us in action.
