Thought i would make a new thread since the one about the trailer is well about the trailer :p
I didnt care for it as much as the others. There was some moments that were funny, but IMO they should of taken out Sandman and just focused more on Green Goblin and Venom.
This one had a TON of dialogue in it, which normally is cool, but we all watch spiderman for the wow factor not for him talking.
RAnking them from 1st to 3rd as far as my favorites...
Spiderman 2
Spiderman
Spiderman 3

I thought Spiderman 3 was freakin awesome, however I agree, they could of done without sandman. Also, Topher Grace suprised me with his ability to play venom fairly well, being the scrawny kid from that 70's show he did better than I expected. Overall, the movie was worth my $5.75 and standing in line for a few mins to see.
My ranking for favs would be:
Spiderman
Spiderman 3
Spiderman 2

I feel the same way. It was entertaining enough, but nothing spectacular. It had a lot of funny parts (LOVED Bruce Campbell), and when Peter went emo, it was funny whether they intended it to be or not.
I actually really liked the Sandman story arch and the execution, but you're right, it didn't need to be in this movie. The funny thing is, I've heard that they are supposedly going to be making more Spiderman movies. It seems to me that the way they ended it left it open for it to be the end of the series.
(I know there's already been a spoiler alert, but seriously: don't read what I'm about to say if you haven't seen the movie)
I mean... what would the next movies be about? They killed off Goblin and Venom (though, there is still the sample that the doctor has), Sandman isn't dead, but he is defunct.
I think they left it that way on purpose, so that if something happened and they decided they didn't want to / couldn't make any more movies in the series, they would be satisfied ending it there.
Whats left though? Carnage? Wouldn't that be a bit violent for this series? There's Kingpin, but that was kinda killed by Dare Devil... Suppose they could do their own version. Mysterio? Eh. I could see them doing Rhino, but only as a side villian. The Lizard might have some interest, especially since Connors had such an interesting roll in 3. Hobgoblin, but the whole Goblin series of enemies is starting to become Cliche.
The problem I'm seeing is that, with the exception of the Kingpin, I don't really see any of these enemies as "epic" Spiderman foes. These are enemies that I would expect to see Spidey facing in episodes of the animated series. Sure, they could have him face two or three of the "B List" enemies at a time, but super hero's need super villians. Without them, you can't have a really good super hero movie.

Dork Alert!!!!
Akom you must be fuxing kidding me. There is a HORDE of villians. Kraven the Hunter, Rhino, Vulture (lame), Mysterio (as you mentioned). Not to mention KRaven the Hunter.....i mentioned him twice cause there is some really good comics out there with Kraven. Hydroman, Shocker, Scorpion, Tombstone. They could do kingpen and the Spiderslayer storyline. Pick some of them and do a Sinister Syndicate/Sinister Six storyline.

Shocker + Scorpion would be awesome for a next movie, and maybe even like Scorpion and Carnage, or Conner storyline, there is so much they could do, and they could easily make 3 more movies, its just a matter of wanting to do it and doing it good, that and having the right cast and direcotrs.

Don't get me wrong... I know they have plenty to work with (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man_villains).. the problem that I was pointing out is that (to me at least) its going to be hard to make an epic feeling movie with what they have left. You are probably of a different opinion... but to me if they make 3 more movies (which was the plan I heard) I'd imagine they are just going to feel episodic (Spidey 2 was kinda episodic... didn't really make any difference in the long run). Which, I suppose, is fine and I'm sure they'd be entertaining.

Sam Raimi has already said he won't be doing any more of them, because he feels this one wraps up the spiderman storyline. They're talking about getting Peter Jackson or someone else can't remember their name, to pick it up.

God I felt like I was watching chick flick with all the crying; seriously everyone was crying in nearly every situation. I thought it was just ok.

When we saw it, the theater literally erupted in applause when he slapped Mary Jane down.
And, laughter for all the crying scenes after about 3/4 the way through.
The action was cool, mostly, but the melodrama was ridiculous.

haha yes it was the same thing in my theatre. We saw it in iMax and there was aparently some high school function so we had lots of commentary about him looking "emo" and being called "emo" boy.
I think they should not have had two villians in this one and instead focus on one plus Harry's story. Venom was made and killed far too soon and the sandman thing was just ???

OUtsider opinion of it. This was the first spider man I had seen and lets just say I'm glad I missed the first two. TOOO many special effects. As spidofag is blasting down the street I could not see anything. It was all a big blur. Horrid acting. Predictable plot line. Dumb movie over all. Waste of money. Only good thing to come out of it is I did not have to pay.

Hmm does anyone else here ever remeber when Eddie was dating Gwen Stacy..?? Because I sure dont ever remeber that, or him even ever going out with anyone Peter knew or at all while he was still Eddie Brooke.. It wasnt until way down the lines when he had his own comic book series that he dated this one girl (been too long.. forgot her name).
And also anyone else noticed the little cameo of Mr Stan Lee :D.. if you blinked you might of missed it, it was no more than 25 seconds :(

This movie was alright. Some of the stuff was just stupid though.
How did Harry survive that grenade which practically detonated on top of him... The same blasts that crippled giganto sand man. Also, how are they going to kill off Venom but leave Sandman? Lame beyond belief.
All that said, I enjoyed the enemies in this film better than the first two. I thought the Green Goblin was pathetic, as was Doctor Octopus. I read somewhere that the directors wanted to stick with the oldschool characters and avoid catering to fan favorites like Venom and Carnage - this is stupid. No one cares about two aging men who use their omg science! powers to make Megaman suits.
Carnage + Venom + Actually using symbiote suit for something besides different colored webbing and fashion sense = Own.

Stan Lee is in every marvel movie he has created the comic for. Its always a 15-30 second cameo.
In fact if you IMDB him, any cartoon also he does a voice cameo in as well. He loves his stuff :)

Gwen Stacey was killed off long before Venom came to be in the comics. They butchered every story line from the comics. (don't even get me started on that)
Don't count on Venom being dead either.

I can name several that were true to books. Couldn't come up with any for comics.
The thing is, these are major plot points.

Honestly i loved it... I think it was executed very well. So much story to tell and it was all told perfectly. The whole movie i was somewhat on Sandmans side. So the fact that he didnt die was a welcome outcome.
I have to give major credit to them for really making the Spiderman movies shine. I would sit through spiderman 1,2,or 3 anyday over watching ANY other comic book inspired movie.

The thing is, these are major plot points.
Blade- Deacon Frost was a scientist wuss not some hotshot vampire.
X-Men 1,2,3- First Xmen were Beast, Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) Iceman, and Angel. Rogue started off a bad girl.
Daredevil- worst peice of shit ever.....whole thing was mostly slaughtered
Hulk- His dead turned into absorbing man???? Banner always had this pent up anger????
What book to movie is accurate? Closest I can recall is............none. Tom Clanceys are all wrong, Harry Potters all wrong, Lord of the Rings "invented" charactes and cut major scenes.

Spiderman 3 was Trash.
If you want to laugh and say "What the Fuck, did they really just do that?" a lot, then go for it. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

Also good if you missed Dr. Phil that day and want to watch every single person on the screen cry at least once.

Saw the movie today, and yeah I do get what some people are saying.
Did I enjoy the movie overall? Yes.
Did I feel REALLY uncomfortable and squirm in my seat while Emo-Peter was dancing in the streets? Damn skippy!
Could they have made three movies out of this? You bet!
It felt rushed, and it tried to tie up stuff that was in no way ready to be tied up. They should have realized that when they did the Spiderman line. I mean, any of them that have read the comics would realize just what a vast scope the Spiderman story covers.

Finally caught it tonight. Other than the crotch-stuffing-emo bit, I enjoyed the flick. The melodrama is on par with the others, and I actually thought this one was less preachy. #2 was full of the constant self doubting stuff, #1 beat us to death with Uncle Ben's advice. None of those are bad elements, they're just executed very poorly in these movies.
We also thought it was some sort of weird salute to John Travolta.
Soooo...Peter is auditioning for Fallout Boy?
Toby needs to never be allowed to cry on film again. As a director, there are so many other ways the crying scenes could have been handled/filmed/cut/whatever, I can't figure out how they allowed those in. The entire theater was laughing.

I still think they could bring back doctor octopus. Sure, they showed him going down into the river at the end of the second movie, but it's possible his arms could save him albeit he's brain damaged and very deranged. (arms worked all by their lonesome in the operating room)
Could even do the same ala the comics with the original goblin. Have him slowly regenerating from major wounds as a side effect of the serum he took and once he's able to revive show up later on in the films. None of these scenarios are very likely, but it shows it COULD be possible.
