They had a free 14 day trial on it earlier (not sure if its still ongoing tho) and it didn't really hold my interest to tell you the truth. It was decent, but it's not a game where you drop everything and race home to play it...Or it wasn't for me hehe

I used to play on Bria. I loved it at first, but it got old pretty quick. I was actually thinking about going back to it recently, but I spoke with a friend who was playing at the same time as me and who went back and he was telling me how different things are and how far behind I'd be and how broken some things are and so on... so after a bit of indecision, I opted not to go back.

If you havn't played it, go ahead and do the 14 day trial. The game has (had) a lot of promise if they take it in the right direction. But to me, and I think everyone else, it just didn't feel Star Wars-y enough. Just another Sci Fi based MMORPG.

Howdy

Yeah I'm still playing. The game is in major flux now as they are trying to fix the game. If you like PvP, then by all means come on over, if you're looking for PvE content, you might find this game lacking.

With the new expansion on the horizon (Jump to Lightspeed), you'll see players owning their own ships, offering rides to other players, deliveries and of course space combat. Ships will be fully customizable, and some can have multiple active players inside at once. This allows for some twitch gaming, if you're looking for that sort of thing.

Don't expect to become a Jedi right away, the new quests are in place, but no new starts on the path until Publish 10 (in about a month). They've COMPLETELY redone Jedi. Unfortunately this means that in another two to three months you'll see more lightsabres than you can shake a......um......lightsabre at.

The boards are run by SOE, so don't expect to find the same type of juicy flames that you find here. I swear, all of you would have a field day with the people on some of these boards. Compared to people here, their forums experience has been totally virgin.

Another good point about this game of course is that you're never stuck with one class and can mix and match abilities and classes. If you get bored, you can just change your class. But on the downside, they are still fixing some of these abilities, so unfortunately some classes are more powerful than others (no different than EQ really).

Anyhow, if you want to give it a try, go to www.starwarsgalaxies.com (http://www.starwarsgalaxies.com) and check out the free trial. If you like it, buy it. If you don't, then simply walk away. If you come to the kettemoor server, send me an ingame email or tell, and I'll see what I can do to help you out.

Good luck

I recently tried the 14-day trial, and I was sorely disappointed. To me the UI was near impossible, the graphics seemed worse than EQ, and there was little communication between players (I was on the Intrepid server). Like was said before on this forum, it didn't feel "Star Warsy" enough and it just seemed to difficult for my tastes. I'm sure it's a good game once you get into it, but it wasn't for me.

I'll admit the learning curve is steep. It's like you have to "unlearn" EQ just to play this game. They're wired differently. I'll be honest, if I hadn't had people to help me along at the beginning I probably wouldn't have gotten as far as I did.

One thing it was for me though was a refreshing change from EQ. To compare the two games is like comparing apples and oranges. They both have lots of people playing, but that's where the similarity's end. Entirely different game mechanics.
