Suprised there wasn't a thread. What did you all think? The best part for me was the Tea Party response personally (in a funny way)

I was traveling, so I didn't get a chance to watch it.

At this point, I've pretty much stopped taking his vague, flowery speech seriously and have learned distrust even most of his concrete promises.
I'll be shocked if he actually follows through on the promise of not signing legislation with earmarks, for example.
His lip service toward undoing the absurd 1099 requirements is crap. There have been at least 3 pieces of legislation voted down in the past year that would have fixed that. Those bills have been proposed by and voted down by both Republicans and Democrats.
Meanwhile, he's almost certainly about to re-up the Patriot Act again soon and is making god damn jokes about people being groped by the TSA. I doubt he'd be grinning about that if it were Michelle, Malia, and Sasha who were being felt up.

I watched about the first six minutes, by which time it was obvious this was largely going to be content-free theater.

Once I heard there was going to be a "tea Party" response, I quit taking it seriously and decided not to watch it.

I rarely bother to watch anyone's SOTU, much less the responses. I do find it amusing that Ryan gave essentially no time to his own proposals (that fellow Republicans ran from). From what I've read, Bachmann was predictably moronic. But really, the build up to the SOTU is rarely worth the pay off. Nothing to see here -- move along.

GRETA: Governor, last night there was a lot of discussion about the Sputnik Moment the President wants us to have. Do you agree with him? Is this our moment?
PALIN: That was another one of those WTF moments, when he has so often repeated, the Sputnik Moment, that he would aspire Americans to celebrate, he needs to remember that what happened back then with the former communist USSR and their victory and that race to space, yeah, they won, but they also incured so much debt at the time that it resulted in the inevitable collapse of the Soviet Union so I listen to that Sputnik Moment talk over and over again and I think, no we don’t need one of those.
Apparently Palin and Bachmann are in a cat fight over who can say the more colossally stupid thing.

Yeah. Bachmann:
"How unique in all of the world, that one nation that was the resting point from people groups all across the world," she said. "It didn't matter the color of their skin, it didn't matter their language, it didn't matter their economic status."
"Once you got here, we were all the same. Isn't that remarkable?" she asked.
Bachmann (R-MN) also noted how slavery was a "scourge" on American history, but added that "we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States."
"And," she continued, "I think it is high time that we recognize the contribution of our forbearers who worked tirelessly -- men like John Quincy Adams, who would not rest until slavery was extinguished in the country."
I think Bachmann is positioning herself for the VP slot in 2012. She may accomplish the unthinkable - be a step down from Palin.

I wonder how much damage we do to our nation with the expected rebuttals. Really, there's no respect for the office of the POTUS. The Tea Party is just adding to the noise.

It's about seven minutes in or so if you find the speech on YouTube.
