Steel Squadron lives and were getting the tags for it soon carramon siliden celdrick (me) and many others have returned and decided that it should be remade under a new name "The Steel Squadron" but i finally got around to reading the previous posts and this stuff about carramon leaving the guild for FD its all lies.....Sylk turned half the guild on carramon because he failed to log in for 5 days and there was no raids because carramon was basically the only raid leader in the guild when carramon finally returned half of the steel's officers had already de-guilded and moved on to other guilds such as SOH FD and RIP.so seeing how sylk had half the guild backing him the guild tags were handed over to him and carramon went to FD of course many followed him..I attempted to remake the guild and i handed leadership to Greystone who backstabbed me and disbanded the guild for good. But the guild is returning and carramon will be leader.

Never heard of it either. Guess I'd be considered old school...;P
Was it pre Ayonae Ro?

What I mean by hype is that alot of top people in the guild at the beginning was ex high end game players then all kinds of crap hit the fan for them.. Dont even think they got into the elemental planes
Chanur

It was most definitely during Ayro. Think the farthest they got was everything up to RZ, but not sure since I wasnt in it :P
Also how come none of the other officer steped up to lead while Carramon was afk?

Steel Squadron was an A ro guild...we got into Sol Ro Tower and the guild fell under due to lack of raiding.
celd881
01-17-2006, 07:03 AM
people did not step up to lead raids because only few knew how. we had Bobdiggler the Eternal Wrath paladin as a raid officer but all he did was call free nights. the only reason the guild basically was destoryed was because sylk turned the guild on carramon when he comptuers were being worked on when he got back into EQ he had no choice but to give sylk the tags.

Some people really need to spend less time playing video games and more time learning how to type.

Nah Kel, typing skills are SO overrated!!

Haha no Kelraz, IvM was formed by Fantor and Katia after the breakup of VV at the beginning of Luclin.

You guys are giving SS more credit then it deserves, I am pretty sure the guild didnt start till sometime after Plane of Powers wasnt the HIgh end guilds main raiding targets anymore.. I know it was sometime after the beginning of Ayonae Open Raiders thats for sure.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and make the following guess.
SS fell because of an inability to communicate clearly. Of course this is just based on the poster on this thread. That poster alone makes my brain bleed.

Wasnt there a Graystone and a Greystone? I seem to really vaguely recall that, but then again, I could be way off base.

Since Shemp isn't here, I'll do it. It was Gandaar's army of alts that did it. :)
Sorry, couldn't resist

Taleren, I'm pretty sure this guild was about the time we were in NToV. Since Carraman was also Pakadar from Final Destiny and he left FD back before I left FD for RIP (and broke into Velious content) ...

I thought Steel Squadron was an iteration of the 'Legend of Fire' guild started by Recen about 1/4th of the way through the ride of Open Raiders, after whatever the 2nd one was. I'd put it at Planes of Power unless the tag was floating around before then and I just never saw it (I started early Kunark on A. Ro and it doesn't ring any bells to me), i.e. it was too small to be on any sort of radar (I'd heard of Eternal Wrath, Rest in Peace, couple other bigshot guilds and I wasn't even interested in raiding, much less had any idea what raiding was at that point) that I had running.
However, the fact that Celdrick's posts (since I assume thats who's making them) are getting less and less cogent, I'm going along with Fandros's assesment of the situation. My brain, eyes, ears and nose are bleeding trying to translate that. Like in Firefly with the two wierd guys with the blue gloves in 'Ariel'. *shiver*

GL with that man, it can't be easy these days to make low end guilds

SS was out after Ayonae open raiders was well underway. It was when GoD was around and the higher end guilds were Time +, but still lots of guilds had not gotten into the Ep's yet. Prism , SoT, RIP, IvM, LS, EW etc were all those I recall being ep+ at the time.

I dunno, is there anyway really trying for that content other than 2box alt armies going for twink items and trophies? Seems like it'd be pretty easy to raid PoP and earlier stuff now.

Would probably have to start at flagging for EPs and Time if you are starting a guild intended to be a raiding guild without being able to take alot of members away from a current EP/Time+ guild. Without Time+ loot I do not see how they could take out GOD or MPG trials. Unless everyone had geared up friends to push them through DODH missions for those loots which are almost time quality.

I first heard of Steel Squadron aprox begining 2004 or end 2003 maybe. Mid 2004 they started to disband, we got some of them in our ranks, and we were happy with them. There has been many drama in the guild, and except a few people, many people have tried to evade the drama, fleeing into other guilds.
Anyway, good luck in rebuilding the guild.
Lani
p.s. Chanur, you didnt mention Turul Legion as EP guild :)
p.p.s. While we are doing nostalgic rememberings, begining 2004 Legend of the Jokers split, and half went to Turul Legion, half to Landslide (those that kept playing) giving a strong boost for both Euro guilds. At End of 2004, due to serious drop of people playing (do WoW and EQ2 ring a bell?) Turul and Landslide merged, and kept playing under Landslide tag. When the servers merged, Landslide merged with Legendary Companions on Tribunal, and afaik they are doing quite well with 6 raids / week.

Wow someone here is being delusional.
I was never nor ever intended to be a member of SS. I never knew Carramon nor at all. What is this "ton" of lies I supposedly said? If you're talking about that old thread I only made a couple of posts. According to your own site he did give himself a DKP bonus for being "member of the month" no one else according to the site was given this bonus ever again. Must be nice for a leader to pat himself on the back. I was guildless during a good chunk of the life of SS after the fall of LoTJ. I would have rather be guildless than join you.
All of my statements were made based on what I saw from members of your guild. I frequently dropped groups with your members present. They were disorganized, juvenile and utterly clueless. Also I do seem to remember your brief recruit period with RIP after SS vanished like a dessicated fart.
Seriously, I have flamed far better people than you and regretted what I said. Not in this case. Your guildname was the punchline to a bad joke.
It doesn't matter anymore really. I quit EQ over a year ago. Thanks for the laugh (again) Celdrick.

I recall seeing SS doing some PoP raids, and I think I knew one or two players in the guild. I don't think they had much of a history, meaning they started after PoP and ended before OoW, or maybe DoN. At least, that is what little recollection I have of them.
And, why hasn't this been moved to nag? Hasn't been a good thread there for a long time.

I really think trying to make any guild these days would be impossible.. Pretty much everyone on all servers are set where they want to be otherwise there is a established guild that they want to move up to.. SO either way trying to restart a guild with no members will be hard as hell

Steel Squadron was not a low end guild they were almost into the elemental planes but because of the problems we had the guild disbanded.

oh Vladius ..carramon gave me siliden sylk satch and like 3 other ppl a DKP bonus and if you wernt a member of SS why the hell were you on our website and it wasnt for "member of the month" it was for making nearly all the raids and other stuff.so ya you really did make up that stuff in your posts.

Trick there O'illiterate one, is that there is a sliding gauge applied with terms like high end and low end guilds.
By the time you hit EP there was a free consortium of free raiders blowing it out.
Cheer up tho buckaroo, tho low on guild level you are indeed high on the illiteracy scale.

There were several erasons SS broke apart mainly FD,VA,RIP were taking everyone once we got them flagged cause ivm and EW were takign there people it was a shitty cycle. When the guild finally fell apart i was off for a week and some stupid fighting broke out we lost 1/3 of the guild over it then Fd knowing our problems Chenoa came and asked us to merge into FD so i said i will talk to officers and we agreed noone had time or wanted to recruit and reflag a bunch of new people so everyone who was eligible exactly 25people went with FD merger which ended up with us as recruits only 15 or so made recruiting once everyone was in i deguilded from Fd and quit eq until just recently because it took the heart out of the game for me.half the guild that was not close to eplanes flag did merge with SOH which was best for them atm if i could go back BELIEVE me i would have tried to save the guild till the bitter end.So to those who felt cheated i am sorry i did the best i could.it may not have been the best but hey we had ALOT of fun doing it and noone can take that away from us
