Okay, there are so many of these lately it seems worthy of a thread.

In today's paper, police responded to a 911 call reporting a home invasion, with one of the three occupants needing medical attention. The three were arrested and taken downtown (with the one getting medical treatment), when it turned out the home invasion was directly related to their marijuana growing operation.

/sigh

"Eight people connected to a South Carolina party where Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps was allegedly photographed smoking pot from a bong have been arrested"

I'm sure everyone thought they were so cool to be at a party with him at the time.

Lol?

one arrest included the suspected owner of the bong — who wasn't even at the party, but was allegedly trying to sell the pipe on ebay for $100,000, wis reported.

Yeah there's some excellent use of tax payer money. I'm so glad that those bong smokers are now paying for their heinous crime of course no one there would say in court that there was just tobacco in the bong...brilliant law enforcement job here...of course I myself would rather detain some guy sitting in his car in my neighborhood drinking wine while "observing" the "behavior" of those who live there...glad no pedophiles do stuff like that.

I heard this on the radio this morning:

"Can you imagine Michael Phelps' lung capacity? I mean no one would want to smoke with that dude. That bud you want to share with everyone at the party? You better get more, Mike took the whole hit!"

I hadn't thought of that Sixee, but it's an excellent point.

Gotta love it. As long as there are celebrities fucking up and getting caught, there will always be the news media around to let us know that what these exulted people do in private is that much more important than the real problems of the world.

There are thousands of new stories on Foxnews.com every day. That you are discussing this one and not the others shows it isn't the media's priorities that are screwed up ... its yours ;)

Yeah there are...but this one is a feature article and also has been...lol..."BREAKING NEWS"...so really...it's the corporate barbecue media that drives the day.

Yup. I am. How dare I take a cynical approach to the news business. The way you present this, you would almost think I am defending their ability to make this kind of shit a headline topic. As in THE lead story for the day.

Kelraz, I liked you more when you just took these assholes's money and didn't try to defend what they do.

Actually I haven't worked for Fox more than once this year. ;(

The reality is, if people didn't care papers like TMZ wouldn't exist and the Christian Science Monitor would still be in print. Yet since TMZ has higher ratings than World News Tonight there obviously is a justifyably high demand for entertainment news. As long as people want to hear about famous people's drug habits more than economic news these stories will remain on the front page.

Till people wonder what happened to the money they used to buy TMZ with....

Got to hand it to the Brits once again. They have their scandal rags and then they have their core news and then they have their commentary. Its all separated for the most part, where as here its all one soup because dirt on the rich and famous = ratings.

I watched some of TMZ over Christmas when i visited my sister. I was captivated and couldn't pull away....I think they're doing some kind of subliminial shit!

Apparently this is all my sister watches.
