Anyone have any recommendations about things to do or see in Singapore and Taipei? I have 4 days in the former and 2 in the latter to check things out at the end of November.

Go check out the Buddhist temples. They really are breathtaking. Take a camera. :)

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei is something to see as is Taroka National park in Taiwan.

Gotta stop into a strip club or two first and inoculate yourself.

Having seen a club or two in Thailand and visited the red lights in Holland I think that part of the world is out of my system. I've seen it all.

The memorial looks cool though.

Keep in mind...this is a military person's perspective so its not rich in family values:

Singapore. Its a city! Its a country!:

There are lots of techie malls that sell electronics for cheap. Haggling encouraged. You can also score jewelry for cheap there. There is a pretty cool zoo. There is alot of convention centers there that host european and american events so the place is pretty much westernized inspite of the nation being a hodgepodge of asian cultures with Chinese being a big one. You will find a Hard Rock Cafe, Hooters, McDonalds...all that shit. The Singapore dollar exchange is pretty nice. Almost 2 Sing per US. Your atm card will work there most likely. The hotels are really nice and CHEAP but not shitty cheap. I stayed at someplace called The Village and it was very nice for something like 60 dollars American. For night life....heh..where to begin. Orchard Towers area is pretty much the club/redlight district. There are also plenty of "Happy Ending" massage parlors. Asian women for the win! Just watch your step on a few things: NO GUM. Don't spit on the ground. Don't fuck around. Their justice is swift and harsh. Other notes: The cabs are a rip off. Take the train. If you need prophelatics....they are sold locally to fit the local population. Best bring your own from home. Also, Tiger Beer is very strong and for some reason they use every part of a pig when they cook. Some things are just...ewwwww. If you go to Singapore you might as well check out....

Thailand! Its not too far away.

Well, Thai food as best at its source, only you don't know what you are gonna get. Same thing with the hookers! Its pretty much a dirtier and cheaper version of Singapore in the uban areas, but with it being an actual country instead of a former pirate den turned City State, there are much more in the way of cultural things to see. Here is where you really should devote more of your time. Just be careful. Things are a little loose around the edges, so think like you are in Mexico and you should be fine. You dollars will go along way there. Also, if she has an adams apple....RUN!

For both...keep in mind that its very near the equator and they are both surrounded by ocean...so its friggen hot as hell and humid with plenty of on and off rain. Dress for the weather but in a conservative fashion. No ripped up shorts etc etc.

As for Taiwan....never been there. Probably its like any other emerging modern asian country. The 21st century downtown with the 12th century in the sticks.
