I may not understand but it seems like they are a loophole for political donations. Guy just dropped 5 million to help a candidate last week for example. What stops their from being a "dotted line" from the candidate to the PAC/Super PAC's.

Seems like every candidate from this election to the next will just funnel money to PAC's to avoid election finance laws or am i missing something?

You're not missing anything. This is the result of several USSC decisions, including Citizens United, that have basically made electioneering legal.

To answer the question, Greystone, what Super PAC boils down to is that a large corporation with its vast amount of financial resources can now contribute unlimited funds and be considered as making an " individual contribution" since the big corporate entity now is on equal footing as a person in the eyes of the law. So, lets say Exxon Mobil contributes 20 million dollars to Mitt Romney's campaign out of their petty cash fund. It can be 200 million, 2 billion..etc. Sky is the limit. Add to that the fact that each executive and board member can also contribute their own unlimited campaign contributions of millions of dollars from their own personal wealth. The people and companies don't even have to be US, so China could buy the election if they wanted to and create a nice little puppet state here. Sinopec is still a company, even if most of the stock is held by the Chinese Communist Party governing body. Anyway, if Mitt Romney wins, who do you think he is actually held accountable to? Joe Barstool who sent in a 500.00 contribution or the single company that bought the presidency with millions of dollars?

One has to wonder since a company is now consider a "a person", could a corporation actually be elected President?
