Unless you're a Creature Handler or Bio-Engineer.
RiP to those two Professions as of today, 11/15/05 (and despite promises of new level 80 tames with the expansion)...

I'm sure they'll do what they've done the other times they've retooled the classes. They offered total respecs so you could rebuild your character.

So are people leaving SWG in droves or are they welcoming the change?

I am not sure. the game and all its expansions only cost 20 bucks atm and if you pay for all access I dont see why you wouldnt at least retry it, they have already lost there biggest subscription based a long time ago.. Sony is just now trying to save the franchise before they have to close it down.

According to forums of up and coming games folks are flying out of SWG in droves. Many are upset over the new change.

The game is undergoing a fundamental and massive overhaul under what many feel is false pretenses (they were fed a line of advertising and promises about the expansion during the pre-order period that included new skills for professions being eliminated or greatly condensed, e.g. Bio-engineer and Creature Handler). The professions are being whittled dowm from 30 to 9, and some professions will *have* no equivalent, or anything close to it, under the new system; players are just being asked to 'try one of the nine exciting new professions'. Combat, as well as crafting, is also being greatly simplified in order to facilitate compatibility with the console. Perhaps most importantly, the entire feel of a game over two years old, for good or ill, is being substantially changed; it will be a very *different* game than the one the loyal paying playerbase has been playing for the past two years. Whether the changes will result in a new playerbase, or sound the deathknell for SWG, has yet to be determined - and the changes leave a particularly bad taste in the mouths of many of the players because they were announced *one day* after the preorder period closed for the expansion - in other words, people paid for something completely different from what they in fact ended up getting.

They're putting out SWG for a console system?

Yes. I'll see if I can find the link, but it's one of the major reasons for the massive streamlining of the game.

I'd read that somewhere as well Nydia. Think it was for one of the new generation consules.

Not only is it because they are making it available for console players but I also see this as a Last chance to get there player base back, THey have to be losing more money then making atm. Matrix is NEXT!

ok So i went ahead and downloaded the free 14 day trial for this game and its sad to see this game still poorly made. They should just use Everquest's fighting system god knows it would be alot better.
My biggest problem about the whole game is, the graphics are out of date and my computer still skips alot in areas that there are alot of visuals, IE trees. Playing Everquest 1 and Everquest 2 my computer plays fine but a less graphical game like SWG makes my computer go to shit? WTF are the people making this game doing wrong?

Some very appropriate remarks there.
