Anyone going to try this?

http://www.playtr.com/index.html

I know it's an NCSoft game but it looks cool and I signed up for beta. I'm really looking forward to an MMO not fantasy based. It looks like a cross between EVE, Planetside, and Gears of War :D

It helps that it's being developed by none other than "Lord British" Richard Garriott.

It's peaked my interest, though I have to admit the NC Soft tag leaves me a little weary. Here's hoping that they do offer a decent beta test as it looks like it's headed in the right direction.

Hehehe, yeah it still makes me giggle LOL.

Speaking of Stargate, that and Fallout both have MMO's on the way, so for those that have had their fill of fantasy based MMO's, keep and eye out for these two. ;)

I have a great idea for an MMO, could even be considered a fourth generation MMO. I have the story and how it would work in my head..........

Dammit! If only I'd paid more attention in C++ class!!!!

Anyhow, I realize it's nothing more than a pipe dream, but damn, all I would need would be one hour with Brad McQuaid, some cold beer and about 10 lbs of hot wings and I bet I could convince him to make the idea a reality. :D

It's fate Binuven, I just read your post about your own MMO and checked out 1up at the same time and this is what I saw in the news.

You don't need an hour with Brad McQuaid, you just need to win a world series and retire - then you can make the game of your dreams.

Though when I interviewed Cid Meyers and asked him what he did with his down time, what games he played he said he couldn't stand to play video games at home. Careful what you wish for, you may stop liking to play them!

Hehe, you know, that has crossed my mind, but this game I have in my head could work!

It's not just based off of experiences from EQ or Vanguard, but would bring together a myriad of play styles, everything from those that raid hardcore or solo, to those that play Second Life and simply want to live an online...well...second life and of course you can't forget the good ol' RPer's. There is a way to have all of these groups come together, and instead of getting in each others way, try to make it such that they compliment each other.

I don't like it when MMORPG's force RP down someones throat, but I equally don't like how most games have gotten rid of it altogether. The MMO as we know it is pretty much done to death. Vanguard offers great stuff for what is out there, but I'll be the first to admit that it is not really a "Third Generation" MMO unless you are merely looking at when it came out (EQ gen 1, WoW gen 2, VG gen 3).

It is with my idea that I hope to actually breath new life into an industry that is being inundated with a few good games, but for the most part contains nothing but crap. People are expecting the same thing from their games, and unless you're playing games like EvE Online, then they'd expect right.

I'll admit, the whole Acclaim idea has peaked my interest, but their game 9 Dragons was...../shiver......just not fun at all. Maybe this might be different with direct player input. Who knows?
