So its pretty clear that Obama is going to win at this point to even the most partisan, non delusional viewer. And win by a whole lot.

The Republican Party has already started to form the cliched "Circular Firing Squad". The McCain camp has split into 2 rival factions. Palin has "gone Rogue" so to speak and is now playing for her own political survival.

Tony Blankley and Rush Limbaugh have drawn a line in the sand and declared that the inquisition has begun. The move is on to purge the Republican Party of moderates. Make no mistake, this is an anti-intellectual movement. Look at the quotes from Bush I staffer Jim Nuzzo.

Jim Nuzzo, a White House aide to the first President Bush, dismissed Mrs Palin's critics as "cocktail party conservatives" who "give aid and comfort to the enemy".
He told The Sunday Telegraph: "There's going to be a bloodbath. A lot of people are going to be excommunicated. David Brooks and David Frum and Peggy Noonan are dead people in the Republican Party. The litmus test will be: where did you stand on Palin?"

wow.

Scary stuff.

Make no mistake, after McCain loses, this is a party without a leader and there will be a freefall for control. The best positioned will be the Limbaughs, Hannities and Freepers. The Bomb Throwers and the extremists. The Republican Party will be dragged far over to the extreme right and will abandon the middle.

If Obama is half as smart and pragmatic as I think he is, there will be a hard tack to the middle in an effort to bring on board those left behind by their parties sudden and frightening extremism.

This is EXACTLY how the so called "Reagan Democrats" came about. If this holds true, Obama will carry 40+ states in 2012.

So Osgiliath and akipt. You win by losing. Your party is now in your hands. Like "Children of the Corn", all the adults are being killed off.

Begin the "Reign of Terror"! Purge thyself of the Heretics! Time to go RINO hunting! Time for the moderates to go and all members must pass the Limbaugh "Sniff Test".

There will definately be a civil war within the republican party, but I'm not sure that the intellectuals will be the losers. they will most likely become a conservative wing of the democrat party.

Palin, well, I think it is blatantly obvious that this is a person who has had only her own interests in mind, She's not a maverick she's outright dangerous. She knows nothing about team play and will chew up and spit out the limbaughs just as quick as she is now doing it to the Noonans etc... I do truly believe that she would lead our country right into an actual civil war without any thought of the consequences with her only sights being set as she would be the person in charge.

Isn't it funny how parties decline and fall?
2 years ago Labour were unshakeable in their kingdom. Now they're a laughing joke with the next General Election pretty much decided.

Its one of the few beauties of our democratic system ... when you have nearly a decade of failed policy, people notice and vote for the other guy.

Who knows, maybe we could finally end up with a third party with moderates from both sides....

Like that will ever happen.

I just hope when Obama gets into office he does a little more than our "unbeatable" Congress has done with their majority.

I still crack up each time I hear the talking heads try to use this argument about why the Democrats are not doing what they promised, Strange how they don't ever include the veto pen used by Bush.

The next 4 years with a 60 percent senate and nearly 70 percent house with a Dem president is gonna get an unbelievable ammount done, much like FDR's first 100 days. Just with the checks and balances gone, we have to all hope it isn't abused like Bush.

We've had a majority in the house and Senate, but we haven't hit the key numbers.

It is looking like a strong possibility that the Dems will hold 60 seats in the Senate. This means they can vote cloture on strictly party-lines. A filibuster-proof Senate, along with a Democratic President and a super-majority House = Democrats doing whatever the hell they want.

Which is hopefully what their constituants want, we've had enough of politicians doing what they personally want.

This is very true. We all need to shoulder a large chunk of the blame, because post 9-11 we all got very stupid very quickly and gave Bush and Co. free reign, and didn't realize what we were doing until it was too late. The press especially let us down by not suggesting that we were giving up too many freedoms, for fear of being "un-patroitic". I really think that we've learned our lesson and we won't let this crap happen again, and if it does you'll see a giant swing in a different direction in 2 / 4 years.

Naturally plenty of people warned about it, and the most important lesson once again not learned was to listen.

Heh...we? No, those who voted for and blindly followed. I know quite a few people, me being one that were vilified as not being patriotic simply because we spoke out about our rights being taken. On this board there were people who were and still do spout about how to even suggest something is wrong with what is being done is un-patriotic.

You know, I have come to despise the words patriotism, patriot, patriotic I hate them.

I have always flown an American flag outside of my house not because I thought I was patriotic I fly it because I being a liberal have the same rights as those who would call me un-american, and now with the bail-out bullshit being the final straw for me I now fly that flag upside down 24 hrs a day.

I understand that...I mean WE the 50 million that rejected Bush at the polls and Ayonae was not the only place I saw people were not patriotic.
