Any old schoolers thinking about returning to play again for it?

Would be interesting to do this. Back when the game came out i wasn't even close to hardcore. I was always experiencing content 1-2 expansions behind up until OoW came out. If i had any interest in eq anymore, this seems like it would be fun at first, probably get old fast though.

I predict very few people sticking through it when they remember what a pain it was doing 1-50 in EQ without all the Kunark twink gear. Will probably be great fun until the 30s when the shine wears off again.

While thinking this over, I did flashback to all the good memories of early eq, and the sheer challenge of it. Which, there were plenty of good times. Then I remembered all the cock blocking, all the times spent screwing around camping stupid shit. Then I doubled over in pain at that.

Honestly, I MISS DESPERATELY the race and shee vastness of encounters Everquest had to offer. Guilds would race from mob to mob, not zone in the same time every sunday and clear X and Y bosses like in WoW and EQ2 and most games out there now.

What will suck big time is the PoGrowth clears all over again. Or doing PoFear without the means or even the gear to be able to handle more than 5-10 mobs. For a few weeks Kelraz lived in PoFear soloing - not sure I could do that anymore.

I dont see much of anything happening but good old fashion "LFG" sign on. No twinking or nice items to build up with. Will be a challenging and solo will be a long tedious process with out any fancy ft items.

R they keeping the new character graphics or are they also going to go back to Preluclin Graphics, I assume they will keep them. I also hear that they are raising the levle to 80 with the new expansion? WTF

With how crowded the server seems its going to be, I don't think finding a group will be the problem, unless you skyrocket past the main curve of the powergamers somehow. I think the bigger problem is going to be finding something to kill for the first few weeks. Whatever though, I think it'll be something fun to do for a little while, at least.

Well there are no hell levels anymore, and I believe the leveling will be slightly less severe - at least from what I've read.

Hopefully people play enough to get some good nags going again.

I leveled 3 to 7 in like, an hour in Guk. Dungeons and groups now yield a LOT more exp than they did 7 years ago - its a lot easier than it was.

Oh man wish I could play. Think this time around I would play a bard..I had serious Bard envy most of my EQ playing years.

It'd be pretty cool to camp out the ridge again in DL, or camp SK for half of the lower-levels.

This time around I decided to play the Shaman. Bards were fun but twisting was a bit much for me to do again.

Is the new combine server up? and if you are trib kel what is your toon name? bards are easy now with /melody .... auto twisting baby.... made it easy enough i have a bard bot now !

There's actually a huge guild formed, a lot of ex-A Roers and some other peoples, we'll be called Abrasive on the Sleeper server if you are looking for a lot of us. Dunno if we're gonna be taking applications or anything - Saman is in charge of all that, I'm just a lowly peon :(

That is correct Ibudin there's over 250 people in most zones. In GFD there were 269 people last night it's nucking futs.

First night 500 people in Gfay, 260 in nektulous, 220 or so in steamfont, and about 200ish in BB.

Was insane...but so much fun.

So how is this going? a brand new server?!?!?! glad I didn't hear about this until now. That would be super tempting .... :)

One time I had been playing for about 20 hours straight and a fellow guildie asked me to transfer some of his stuff to his alt in Qyenos ( this was Luclin time period).

So I get over there and a monk comes and stands in front of me so I figure it is him..... well I transfered a ton of twink stuff to him and a few minutes later the "real" alt shows up and I realized I had made a big boo-boo.

I petitioned and a GM got it back inside of 15 minutes..... those were a long 15 min though..... I could go on and on about the fun times but I digress.....

I recall using the alcove in the thugs room in the catacombs below Qeynos for transferring items. Would transfer items to bags, do a fast /w all in zone, and then drop bags on floor, camp, log in the alt and pick up the bags.

Used to always worry when there were really "good" items in the bags, hehehe.

Rumor has it that Kunark is coming live on friday on Combine.

Was fun seeing the GM announcement of first time Phinny being killed the other night, and I heard Naggy was killed today. Not sure if first naggy kill or not.

Its an auto script they have that has a serverwide message anytime one of the key mobs is killed,with whoever got the kill shot.

Buvas just reminded me of a "funny" thing.... for any of you who knew me back then .... do you remember what would happen when I would yell "TREADMILL !!! " ?

Kunark opened, and Venril Sathir dropped already today, and he dropped ZERKER legs!!! They did not change the loot table, Mwuahahaha.

Once they get up to the Ykesha expansion and Zerkers are in game again, they might have someone who can use them, hehe.

If I started over, I would start a Rogue and a Cleric. Seems that everyone is a cleric now but the high end rogue is still somewhat illusive. I would play them up evenly and see who needed what. Clerics have a lot of control over what goes on in a group but Rogue'ing is really easy and you get to make all those cool crits!
