I was in San Francisco this last weekend with several friends. They wanted to go see a movie that they had heard of called The Hurt Locker. I went into the film knowing nothing about it other than that it is about the Iraq War.

It was amazing. Very intense, very realistic. Its not necessarily supportive of the war or against it.

It had a very limited release (I believe it's only playing in three cities in California). If you have the chance, go see it. It will be available on Netflix on the 12th I believe. It has won a ton of rewards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_and_nominations_received_by_The_Hur t_Locker), and is nominated for three Golden Globes.

I just caught this one yesterday - bloody brilliant movie, though I was bias from the beginning as, after reading your post, I checked it out on rotten tomatoes where it got a 97%, so I went in thinking it would be a realistic reflection on what's happening out there. But fuck me, it was very intense, and I loved some of the cameo's - Ralph Finnes and Guy Pearce. The sniping scene was particularly good. Definate 8/10, IMO.
Cheers for this one Akom.
