- A taste of what Obama is injecting into foreign policy, I believe.
Peace seems to be the key factor now, with those being appointed having brokered major peace deals in the past.

I think these initial appointments say a lot.

Halo --- you're starting allot of threads about American politics. Are you feeling well? ;)

Yes, I think you're right however. Key appoinments and lots of first week promises underway. I'm staying cautiously optimistic and trying not to let my hopes of change sweep me too far out of reality. He's just one man but his presence is echoing in people around me like I've never seen anyone else do.

I'm very pleased, happy, and excited about what I've seen so far.

I think that shows us how much the world has yearned for this day...America can get back to world leadership instead of a failed attempt at world dominance.

This is the "Kennedy connection"; a similar phenomenon was taking place immediately after Kennedy's swearing in, with people overloading the varied volunteer organizations in a desire to serve.

It will be interesting to see how much of an impact Obama has at the grass-roots level. How many of those who were in Washington for his swearing in will take up his challenge and find a way to serve; how many who were watching on TV; and, what level of cooperation will we see in Washington between the parties?

It will be an interesting first 180 days.

I won't be volunteering. I will continue to do what I have been. which is pay my taxes and be a productive member of society, have fun, enjoy my family and friends and die happy.
