When thinking about old EQ adventures the other day, a biting question popped into my mind...

Why did no one (at least on Ayonae Ro that I know of) ever utilize the guild-war system?

Almost every guild has been engaged in some war of words over many things, but why did no one seek to settle old scores of ego or otherwise by an epic battle, let's say on the fields of the Karanas? Something like that certainly would have added another fun element to the game if the respective guild leaders had used it.

I do realize that PVP-hungy players tend/tended to hang around the PVP servers, but the war system was put on all servers for a reason...

...your thoughts, please?

Perhaps for this very reason the devs of EQ2 neglected an in-game PVP element of play.

I think the guild duel thing was broken after like a few months. I use to guild war all the time back on cazic thule. Was so fun running to CB and slaughtering guilds lol. Or raping people in ec and unrest.

Oh hmm.. I didn't think about it not even existing anymore, lol. If it's been broken for a long time I suppose that would answer my question. =)

well I do remember running for my life for about 24 hours when FD and .. ahh was it SoT? over one of the snakes.. god I can't remeber but I had fun. and still have some nice screen shots.. of a gnome getting hit by a truck =) I wonder if he still remembers that.

My first guild had a guild war :) Braveheart vs Sanguine Crusaders !!!! Was kinda fun until I got nuked by the level 50 Shaman (and I was like 24)....

it was xa and fd if I remember right.. and we raped em, they raped us.. it was fucktastic fun for all...

yup was XA vs FD but it only lasted a few days. FD quite early but it was alot of fun. LOL the big battles in GD were most memorable.

Was a shame FD didnt want to go the whole seven days I was having a Blast!

That was one of the funniest times I ever had in eq. I remember me and Anguish taking a half day off work to go tangle with XA.

I remember hearing FD was getting fannies kicked too much and that is why they did not go the whole time. But I did hear it was fun for most. Too bad it broke. :( Maybe they will fix it in a future expansion? :D

No FD was not getting there but kicked all the time FD was slaughtering XA during the day and they would get us late at night if i recall right. That was some of the best times i ever had except they always liked to take me out first being a cleric hehe. I think we quit the guild war so we could get back to raiding instead of camping ssra for naked XA running threw lol
