So this offended the Muslims, who now are going to kill people and burn buildings to show the world that they are not a violent religion....

Well, these are the "rednecks" of the Muslim Religion, so what do you expect?
It's not like the converts to Islam are suddenly given twice the brain power they had before converting.
All it does is give idiots structure to their lives.

Maybe this is just another example of the double standard that has seem prevelant in the Religion. It's not considered violence, unless its violence against Muslims. Otherwise it's ok to burn and destroy the property of infidels.
One thing I noticed was, the headlines said "Dozens" protested the speech. I guess the Imans couldn't get the crowd whipped up into enough of a frenzy to get "Hundreds" or "Thousands" to protest...

Yeah, some branch of al-Qaeda is engaging (http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/09/18/pope.islam.ap/index.html) in a little terrorist attention whoring. Ironically, they cite the head tax at the same time Muslims are protesting the Pope's citation of a characterization of their religion as having spread by the sword. But the head tax is applied to non-Muslims conquered by Islam. Unfortunately, the Middle East is an irony-free zone, it seems.
