Suspected terrorists and foreign fighters held by the U.S. military at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have the right to challenge their detention in federal court, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday.

At issue was the rights of detainees to contest their imprisonment and challenge the rules set up to try them.

Thank you Supreme Court!

The constitution now gives detainees the right to a fair trial in civilian court. Congress no longer has authority.

Maybe now we'll see some of the other rights to privacy and such guaranteed again.

Definitely good news, though the 5-4 vote doesn't fill me with confidence about future decisions.

It is a sad commentary on our government that it took this long.

Actually it does't give them a right to a trial in civillian courts for their actions but it does give them a right to challenege their imprisonment in civillian courts.
