I feel the need to warn you if you venture there. That board is NOT moderated for much content. The only thing we will do is remove posting real life material or things that violate EZ Board's code of conduct. There is no filter for language or "offensive" words. If you post there you are open game for anyone. It's a place for mean spirited fun for the posters, but if you are offended easily, or heck even marginally offended, do not go there.

Yes I am one of the board admins. But don't send me private messages asking to have things removed or to have people stop saying mean things about you on that board, I can not, will not help you with that. Hello. I share admin duties on the Trib board with Tanje and a few other supercool folks. She's not exaggerating. The Flameboard is pretty much like your NAG board, except we remove the letter N from the acronym.

There is no real moderation, the rules (such as they are) are available here (http://p073.ezboard.com/fthetribunaldotorgfrm10.showMessage?topicID=30.top ic). Enter at your own risk, and understand the rules before you enter. We DO moderate our other boards, and our RSI board is a cross between your NAG board and your reality board. It's no place for the thin skinned, but it's not an open flame forum either.

We just want to be sure you enjoy the board and know what to expect. We don't employ any filters for language, so you may see words that are unpleasant, but we've had few problems with such things. I hope you DO come try the boards out.. ESPECIALLy those of you who still play EQ. Our LF section needs more posters and information about raids and such.

In any event.. I look forward to new faces and opinions, and even a little mean spirited fun with any that want to brave the Flameboard.

Question for ya. Who decided what's not worth "our" time? You don't have a "flameboard" (putting it in parenthesis is clue one), you have a board where a group of people get to decide what you read, and how you post. Gimme the Trib board every time. The list of visitors from your boards prove it, but not just for new accounts, but repeat visitors.

The thing you fail to realize is that the mods didn't just decide one day that the current state of the boards is how things are going to be. It is something that has evolved over time from the first day the A Ro EZboard was created. The current state of the board is the result of public and private feedback from members of the community.

This board has a better foundation than the Tribunal board (VBulletin > EZboard), and would be the better place to host the post-merge forum. I'd bet that the moderators and administrators would be willing to work with the Tribunal mods and admins to transition things (they'd probably even consider renaming the Sandbox ;) ).

If you have questions or issues with the moderation of this board, you're bringing them up in the wrong manner. It's been tried before, and it didn't work.

I poked into the Tribunal board a bit, saw a lot of duplication but a glaring difference in the Flame Board philosophy versus NAG. IMO let both boards run concurrently. That way the folks who enjoy the Flame Board on Tribunal can keep it, those who want a moderated NAG can keep theirs. Let natural selection decide.

Dante, Sanchek isn't hiding behind the "changeover". After we switched to this board, there was a machine crash that resulted in a rollback of this board, and some configuration settings and other things were lost.

(Unfortunately, we can't claim that the style/look-and-feel settings were one of the things that were lost. ;) )

Natural thread drift is OK. Deliberately trying to derail a thread into another topic isn't. If you want to discuss a new topic, start a new thread. Don't derail an existing thread. It's not that hard to figure out.

On a fast moving board, that such reports can be the only way to be sure that a mod will see a post that violates the rules. Ok, so this isn't hardly a "fast moving" board anymore, but it can still alert a mod to a trouble thread without adding to the trouble it's causing. An "I'm offended" post would do little more than add to the trouble of the thread.

Why should I do your research for you? There's 28 pages of NAG history you can look through for yourself, as well as 43 pages of General history, not to mention the other boards.

Most long-standing members of this board are aware that I have (or, more correctly now - had) a long-term live-in girlfriend whom played EverQuest with me [we did not meet that way] and whom I have a daughter by. Tt has nothing to do with EverQuest; it has nothing to do with my guild; and it has absolutely nothing to do with the forums at ayonae.ro.

Trillkin, in an attempt to win/keep the favor of his girlfriend - chose to "expose" elements of my personal life, details of my relationship with my girlfriend, details of her and my [friendly] relationship with his sort-of-girlfriend (against her will as well).

His antics weren't so bad as to earn him a ban outright; but, combined with flaunting his "I don't need to follow no stinkin' rules" attitude, he eventually earned himself a trip to the land of the banned -- just like he did from our message boards for posting similar real-life information. I've got a tough skin. I can take a little poking -- but you leave my family out of things.

Natural thread drift is OK. Deliberately trying to derail a thread into another topic isn't. If you want to discuss a new topic, start a new thread. Don't derail an existing thread. It's not that hard to figure out.

Unless you're talking about food, dessert dishes, or miscellaneous pastries, posting innane things such as "I like pie" would constitute spam.

Actually, it is pretty much common sense: if you don't have anything to add that's related to a topic, then don't add anything. "I (don't) like pie" is only applicable to topics about foodstuffs, it doesn't belong in a pissing match between two guilds. It doesn't work to "lighten the mood"... the people that are the main participants in the discussion will just ignore it anyway.

On boards like EZboard, all those posts do is take up space and clutter threads. The extra posts eventually wind up driving up the costs of the board for those that contribute monitarily to the community.

You're really making a much bigger deal of this than it is.

Dear Dante:

As someone who has a reputation for of being one of the most verbose posters that this board has ever had, I'd like to tell you to take yourself, your spuriously formed and wildly inaccurate opinions about the past history of this board and its moderation, and the bag of hot air you rode in on and get stuffed please :). There is no need for these boards to fuse, assuming, at this point, that we'd have any desire to; it seems to me that linkage, perhaps a merged section at best, should be sufficient, as both communities consist largely of folks who no longer play EQ in any case....

Historically, this board has had a *very* lively NAG section, with quite a bit of abuse (and much more creative abuse than that infantile dribble I spotted in your romper room over on the Tribunal that y'all seem to think is such hot stuff) not only tolerated, but even encouraged as long as it did not include RL personal insults, threats, or racism/sexism. It has slowly wound down over the last year and a half or so, as the game has aged, folks have moved on to other things, and the address/management of the board has changed and we had an unfortunate long outage and data loss last winter; but that loss has not been, by and large, due to 'oppressive' management here.
(Help, help, I'm being repressed!) What moderation we have had has been the bare minimum necessary to keep the place civil and out of the courts, free from advertisement, and has been instrumental in keeping the board, especially as people have become tired of/board with EQ, from degenerating into a bunch of poo-flinging, gay sex references, and heated debate about the merits of pie vs bacon.

As far as the whole Trilkin issue goes, Trillkin was not only a poster child for attention deficit disorder, he had a pathological need to make people pay attention to him... at any price. Positive, negative, it didn't make any difference, and his tactics (in game and out) ranged from making hundreds of inane threads about nothing (or spamming people with Dr. Demento songs in tells and glomming onto various folks and 'stalking' them in game), to dragging people's personal lives into the open when he (delightedly, I think, for it always seemed to be a game with him) realized that he'd struck a nerve with them and couldn't get any more attention out of them any other way. Eventually the 'stakes' of his little game reached the point where the collective patience of the board community was pushed over the edge, and he well and truly earned his ban.

The A. Ro board community has banned *very* few players over the years (Kivorn, and earlier Edeina, were *very* tolerant, often coming to the defense of posters who were 'cruising for a ban' or otherwise wildly unpopular as it were), but has lost quite a few over the last year simply due to attrition, game aging, the board management/address changeover/crash last winter, and the loss of one of our more... colorful moderators and his pack of homoerotic syncophants a few months ago. Had you come by, say, six months ago, your eyes could have feasted on all the references to gay sex with goats that your heart desired, but it would be a stretch to call it content.

As a former player on A. Ro. for four years, I can appreciate the benefit of having a shared community board once the servers merge, but as someone whose 'home' has been *this* community, and no longer plays EQ (as is the situation for much of the population of your server board, it sounds like), I would be unlikely to visit such a shared board if it resulted in the loss of my former community; it just wouldn't be 'home' to me. I suspect that there are quite a few on your side that feel the same, and it seems to me that shooting for or worrying about 'unity' at this point is putting the cart before the horse. If such a move becomes desirable among the folks on the merged server who are still *playing* EQ, it will most likely proceed organically and out of a *positive* desire for such in any case...

Does the flameboard suck now? Indeed it does. It didn't always, though. It was hilarious at one point, and from time to time it kicks up again. But even at its worst, its far more entertaining than this lobotomized collection of non-thought.

Who said that everything here must reflect the opinion of the mods? I disagree with a bunch of people's viewpoints, and just because I don't agree with them means that I will move posts to the Sandbox. As long as you debate with civility (that is, not throwing out death threats, which by law we are required to report if you have involvement or knowledge in a criminal activity, posting porn, and throwing out personal insults, which by default will be moved to the Sandbox, and not staying on task) we don't change a thing on NAG. I think these requirements are very reasonable, from a legal and personal perspective. In fact, if you have a good discussion and I disagree with you, I may not agree with you, but I will fight to the death your right to say it.

A lot of you are getting the wrong idea that NAG is the Flamebox equivalent. I will say it again: It is not. The Sandbox is our completely unmoderated area. As long as your posts stay within the conformity of law, we will not remove any posts. The Moderators is to make sure no one is harrassed or harmed playing on our boards. We simply want to build a community. And we want to cover our legal butts as well. If you post a goatse picture in your post, we will remove it and we will add you to read-only group (Morons) because we do not have adult verification and you bring us into serious legal trouble.

Let me ask you: I dislike this thread; does that mean I've locked, deleted, or moved the thread? So far, most of the discussions have continued with civility. The Board Administration will not intervene if there is no warrant for it. Understand that we don't act on a whim; we act because we have rules. The only forum for which 90% of the rules don't apply is in the Sandbox. There are other threads, threads that disagree with our philosophy. Just search for a few.

Let me ask you again, are our warnings so unreasonable? Even though we only ban you for fourteen days rather than indefinitely? We give out lots of second-chances; in most cases you will definitely have a second chance.

Let me go through each one. Advertisement. If you didn't friggin' pay me to use my bandwidth to advertise your services, you don't have the right to post here. You AGREED to the ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY when you signed up here.

Racism - We don't enforce this in the Sandbox forum. Take a look at how many threads use "fags," "dirty jews," and so forth in the Sandbox forum. I did a search for the word "fag (http://search.php?searchid=27003)," and found 66 results. Furthermore, race is a very touchy issue. I wouldn't go there.

Harassment - Do I need to explain this? If you violate this rule, you violate the rights of others. If you post real-life information without other people's permissions, you could be sued. If the poster really wanted to get you back, they could subpoena us for IP records, subpoena your ISP, and get your information. Our Privacy Policy affirms that we have a natural right to commitment, and our forums is the medium through which one's privacy could potentially be intruded upon.

eBaying - Once again, I am not Player Auctions. If you want to post here with ads selling your account, I am going to friggin' kill the thread - see Advertisement. This also a violation of EverQuest's EULA/copyright, although not commonly enforced. This is five points because we have 4 points for advertisement, plus one point for EULA violation.

Respect My Authority - If you've been told to stop doing one of the stuff above and you ignore us warning after warning after warning, there's only so many times we'll continue to let you off the hook before we start getting serious about it. If we told you to stop posting porno on the boards and you continue doing it, I have no problem giving you this warning. And this warning isn't so bad. You are only banned for 14 DAYS even if you do get us into a legally sticky situation.

We only reserve the Morons group (read-only status) or IP-bans for the very worst, people who make the boards an unfun place. Look, we have rules because we want to foster a community, not anarchy. If you want anarchy, go to a forum like mastabeta.com. And even so, they ban people. So much for anarchy.

And let me ask you, what is wrong with our AUP? ezboard has an AUP albeit a more restricting one. We have to provide an AUP since we are an independent bulletin board. Let me post it again and tell me if it's unreasonable:

You understand and agree that any Content posted on the Service is the exclusive responsibility of the person who posted or uploaded it, and that you will be solely responsible for any Content that you upload, post, email or otherwise transmit via the Service. 5. LICENSE GRANTED TO EZBOARD
You grant ezboard the world-wide, royalty free and non-exclusive license to reproduce, modify, adapt, distribute and publish any Content you post/upload/contribute to the Service, for the purposes of displaying such information on ezboard's sites and for the promotion and marketing of ezboard's services.

6. USER CONDUCT
You agree to not use the Service to:

(a) violate or solicit the violation of any applicable local, state, national or international law;

(b) infringe the rights of any third party, including but not limited to intellectual property rights and privacy or publicity rights

(d) impersonate any person or entity, including, but not limited to, an ezboard official, forum leader, guide or host, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity;

(e) forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any Content transmitted through the Service;

(f) interfere with or disrupt the Service, computer servers or boards accessible through the Service;

(g) disseminate off-topic messages on boards promoting any product, service, web site, board or venture, or promote boards on the Service through unsolicited electronic mail messages to third parties;

(h) retransmit, re-broadcast or retrieve either though automated or repetitive manual means the Content stored in and/or managed by the Service.

If you do use the Service to commit any of the above, ezboard may, at its sole discretion, terminate your password, account (or any part of it) or ability to use the Service, and remove and discard any Content within the Service.

7. MEMBER DISPUTES
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users of the Service. ezboard reserves the right, but has no obligation, to monitor disputes between you and other users of the Service.

8. CREATION OF BOARDS
In using the Service to create or make accessible a board, you agree to use your best efforts to ensure that individuals posting Content to the board comply with Paragraph 6 of this Agreement, and agree to take action to remove or disable access to any Content on the board that violates Paragraph 6 of this Agreement.

9. COMMUNITY-SUPPORTED COMMUNITIES PROGRAMS
By signing up to be a registered user or administrator under the Community-Supported Communities ("CSC") programs (Gold Community and ezSupporter), you agree to the following:

(a) You expressly understand and acknowledge ezboard's Disclaimer of Warranties under Section 13 below and that ezboard will not be liable for any damages under this Agreement pursuant to the Limitations of Liability in Section 14 below. You expressly understand and acknowledge that the pricing reflected in the CSC program is based on the above limitations, and that the limitations in this Section 9(a) represent a reasonable allocation of risk for the parties.

(b) You expressly understand and acknowledge that any fees due or paid by you under the CSC program are non-refundable in part or in whole. ezboard currently accepts payment by PayPal, or credit card, and reserves the right to modify its acceptable forms of payment at any time without notice.

(c) You expressly understand and acknowledge that ezboard may change your privileges as a user or administrator of the CSC program and that ezboard reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the CSC program (or any part of it) with or without notice. You acknowledge that ezboard shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of the CSC program.

10. LIMITATIONS, CONDITIONS AND RULES REGARDING SERVICE
You agree that ezboard may establish, in its sole discretion, any limitations, conditions or rules concerning use of the Service, including, for example, the maximum number of messages a user may post to a given board or the Service in a given day, the number of days that posted messages will be available, or the maximum size of a given post. You acknowledge that ezboard has the right to change these general practices and limits at any time, in its sole discretion, with or without notice.

11. MODIFICATION AND TERMINATION OF SERVICE
ezboard reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part of it) with or without notice. (c) reproducing, distributing, republishing or retransmitting material posted by other ezboard members without the prior permission of such members.

ezboard reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary with respect to your ezboard or user account if we have reason to believe it may cause us to lose the services of our ISP or suppliers.

12. OTHER WEB SITES AND RESOURCES
Third parties using the Service may provide links or access to other web sites and resources. Because ezboard has no control over such sites and resources, you acknowledge and agree that ezboard is not responsible for the availability of such sites or resources, and does not endorse and is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products, or other materials on or available from such sites or resources. 13. NO RESALE, REDISTRIBUTION OR REPURPOSING OF SERVICE OR CONTENT

16. EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS

17. INDEMNITY

18. NOTICES
Notices to you may be made via either e-mail or regular mail. ezboard may also provide notices of changes to this Agreement or the Service by displaying notices or links to notices to you generally on the Service.

19. LEGAL DISPUTES
This Agreement and your relationship with ezboard shall be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You and ezboard agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within the county of San Mateo California, USA agree that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action arising out of or related to use of the Service or the Agreement must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose or be forever barred.

20. MODIFICATION
We may amend this Agreement at any time by posting the amended terms on our site at http://www.ezboard.com/corporate/legal_termsofuse.html. All amendments shall automatically be effective immediately upon posting on our site. Your use of the Service following the effective date of any modifications shall constitute your binding acceptance of those modifications. This Agreement may not be otherwise amended except in a writing signed by an officer of ezboard.

21. GENERAL
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and ezboard with respect to the Service and supersedes all prior agreements and understandings between you and ezboard. ezboard's failure to enforce any provision of this agreement will not be construed as a waiver of any provision or right. Greetings Norrathians! First off I wanted to take some time to introduce myself as the new producer of EverQuest. EverQuest has been a large part of my life for the past three years; including the past two years as the game's Associate Producer. During my time on the EverQuest team I've come to realize one of the great things about EQ is the friendships and the community that we’ve all come to love. We all remember the first time we logged into EQ. If your experience was anything like mine, you were shocked that so many windows could fit on one screen! Thankfully, most of us found our way out of the initial shock and found folks who showed us the ins and outs of the game. Many of these in-game friendships have grown into friendships outside of Norrath and for that I thank EverQuest.

We all know that EverQuest is not just a game. The game and its community are both a large part of all our lives. Our team takes great pride in this fact, but at the same time we are humbled by the responsibilities that come along with it. As developers, our primary responsibilities are to make an entertaining game and to support the thriving EverQuest community. Only by working closely with you, can we keep EverQuest successful for years to come.

As I hope you have noticed, our team spends a great deal of time on message boards and we are constantly gathering what's important to you and bringing that information to the forefront. We continue to develop procedures that facilitate that process, but allowing our community to thrive requires an ongoing dialogue with you. For instance, class re-envisionment has been, and continues to be, a hot topic. The recent patch represents many of the initial changes we’ve made together, and we welcome your continued feedback on them. Our goal is to get these changes out as quickly as is reasonable, but to pace ourselves knowing full well that this will take many iterations and updates. This continues to be a top priority and we've already made many changes based on your feedback. Your continued feedback allows us to make EverQuest a better game.

Another hot topic in the EQ community right now is server merges. Merging servers was a tough decision, but it is necessary for the continued success of the game and these changes will make EverQuest healthier in the long run. Larger populations make it easier for players to interact, trade items, find groups, and establish guilds. As with many changes of this magnitude, there are bumps in the road along the way. To help things go a little smoother, we are planning a few changes to address some concerns that you have raised.

First, we'll be instancing the Plane of Time to alleviate the bottle neck that many of you may face as a result of higher populations.

Second, at the request of the players, we're going to combine the servers that have established a voluntary rotation system for raid targets. The Rathe and Karana will now be combined. The communities on The Rathe and Karana servers have put forth an extraordinary amount of time and energy to create their rotational systems and we want to do what we can to support these players and their chosen play style. As a result of this change, Bertoxxulous and Tholuxe Paells will be combined.

Third, we've heard your opinions on which server names should be kept after the mergers. We feel the real answer to this question is that you, the community, should decide the name for your server. Therefore, we will be adding polls to allow every player the chance to vote for the name of their particular server (including servers that have already been merged). We're working out the details of that now so stay tuned for a post shortly.

Moving forward, the EverQuest team has some ambitious plans for the next twelve months. I can't play spoiler to them all (yet), but I can say that we are extremely excited about the direction we're heading and I wanted to give you a sneak peek. As most of you already know, veteran players will be receiving bonuses this spring as a token of our appreciation for making EQ and the EQ community what it is today. This summer will bring a complete revamp of the newbie experience and will also hold some additional content for existing players that I can't wait to play. Also, be ready for art facelifts to some of our old stomping grounds this fall. I'd like to tell you about some of the other things we have planned, but you'll just have to wait and see. :)

FIVE threads" (oops, I think you mean "SIX pages") 6 pages of threads there is because most of the threads there were created after the migration or were split off from existing threads after the migration. There's certainly threads lurking in the other forums that are Sandbox material, it's just not worth the time or effort to comb over 100 pages worth of threads to move them there.)
