Women given the wrong embryos during invitro fertilization...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=624&ncid=624&e=6&u=/ap/20040804/ap_on_sc/switched_embryos

IMO, the doctors need to lose their liscences....not for the mistake, mistakes happen, but for hiding it when they knew minutes after the procedure.

The couple suing for custody has no claim IMO and should be flogged for litigating this. The child is with his biological father and the woman that gave birth to him.

What do you think?

"It's so ironic the court would ask people who don't know each other to co-parent," Buchweitz said. "There is no psychology book that says how to do this."
What the hell does a masturbator want with the kid? And what do these unknown people think they will gain with a child that will still think of Buchweitz as his mother. Hell the kid is already 3 years old, walking and talking (i assume).

This whole thing is stupid.

"The couple who provided the embryos also underwent an in-vitro procedure using the same set, and the wife gave birth to a child 10 days after Buchweitz did, making her son and the couple's daughter siblings. "

Hell they already have one of their own? now they want more that they didn't conceive themselves.

I dont think Katz should loose his licence, no one was phisically harmed and if a former, disgruntled employee hadn't opened their mouth this woman and the other couple would never be the wiser and would go on about their lives (without a dna test). They are taking some of his money so let it be this that brings the issue to closure.

The worst part of the whole thing is the couple trying to take the boy away from the woman who birthed him. They just need to get to fucking and crossing fingers as millions before them have done, or just go have the procedure done again if they want another kid. I guess the "embryo provider" wants a biological son without the birthing process.

I have it... that bitch can hire a surrogate mother. I bet she couldn't get Buchweitz to do it:p Oh wait. Buchweitz already did do it:rolleyes:

Just plain crazy what bored people will do when they feel compelled beyond their controll to feed the monkey.

I have to disagree. It's about taking responsibility for your mistakes. How fair is it that this woman is in no way related to her son, or, down the road, her grandchildren that could come from him. It's the moral question. This guy let her be deluded that her DNA was being passed along through her son when that was a lie. They should have reported the error as soon as it happened and let her make the decision they stole from her. It wasn't their decision to make.

As for the other couple, I would have liked to see something from them regarding their reasoning, but they are remaining anonymous. So without any info on their side of this, my opinion is their full of crap....the woman should counter sue them for emotional distress.

It's the moral question.Well I know there is a genealogy tree in my family but from what I remember, my family is full of native americans and dutch immigrants. I am a mutt, plain and simple. This lady, that we know nothing about, pushed out a mutt. This child is as many americans are, mixed like stray dogs. What does it matter, hells bells man, she didn't conceive the kid naturally anyway. Playing with nature's fire has its consequences, genealogy be damed.

Whether you care about the geneaology/DNA, blood relative stuff or not. They were irresponsible about making the decision to hide the error. They had no right whatsoever to make that decision for her and decided to take the gutless way out and cover up their dumb error. We learn in grade school to be responsible for our actions, these guys obviously never learned it. They should suffer some professional sanction for that. The million bucks will just come out of their malpractice insurance coverage...which may boost their rates and nothing more. The malpractice award covers their error (which would have been mitigated had they said something to her right away), the lack of professional ethics still needs addressing.

What does it matter, hells bells man, she didn't conceive the kid naturally anyway. Playing with nature's fire has its consequences, genealogy be damed. So you are willing to devote your time, money and effort into raising a child you think is yours, only to find out that it belongs to someone else? Even if that lie means you might not try to have any more children (thinking that you had some) when you had the opportunity?

You are a generous person, but welcome to an evolutionary dead end.
