For people that do this....

GALVESTON, Texas - Authorities are trying to determine if the 2-year-old dubbed "Baby Grace" after her body was found in Galveston Bay was repeatedly abused by her mother and stepfather, an investigator said Tuesday.
A woman believed to be the mother of the girl told police she and the girl's stepfather beat and tortured the child to death, court documents show. The girl, believed to be Riley Ann Sawyers, was found by a fisherman in a plastic box Oct. 29, but her identity was unknown for weeks.
The other bad part? They played WoW.
Expect an expose' on the twisted people that play MMORPGs on 48 hours....

A large number of women in prison are mothers themselves. A majority of women in prison either read the daily news or see it on television or hear it on the radio. There are assuredly already some women in the Texas prison system preparing a welcome for this unfit mother.
I read that earlier today. I didn't read why they did it though. totally sickens me.

Sadly, I read elsewhere, that this mother had filed a false Protective Order against the child's father, saying he was abusive.
Too bad the Judge that granted the PO, didn't see through the ruse.

Hmm.. they still have the death penalty in Texas, don't they?
I wonder if she'll live long enough to have to worry about it.....

The law of opposites, I guess, Trikki.
For every Mother Teresa there must be a Saddam Hussein. It seems there cannot be a sense of selflesness without an opposing sense of complete selfishness.
And, obviously, there will be an insanity defense; noone in their right mind could ever contemplate, let alone act on, the idea of killing their own child so heinously.

There just seems to be a whole lot more Saddam Hussein personalities around then the Mother Theresa types. I'm no tree hugger but, the world would be so much less fucked up if people just treated each other with common courtesy.

I don't want to derail, but the recent commercials on television showing people doing kind acts for strangers are one of the better uses for the medium I have seen in some time.

There are plenty of good people in the world who help others... Unfortunately they don't make the news as much as those who do this kind of stuff, giving the illusion that we are outnumbered by evil people :(

Random act of kindness, is a phrase I've seen thrown around.
And hopefully there are a couple of bull dykes waiting for this woman in prison, to spread a little "kindness" her way....

It's like companies who tell you for every so many lids you send in, they'll donate money to some cause. Or stores with similar offers when you come in. No, if you really care just donate the money in the first place, and stop bragging. It's just another way to make cash.

It has to be a very bad sign that my reaction to this was "meh, big suprise."
