I was wondering if anyone did any kind of work with leather in Real Life? Either as a hobby or occupation, it doesn't matter.

I'm looking at getting started, and am looking for some good places to start learning, with the hopes of eventually making a set of hardened leather armor for myself for my SCA bouts. I understand this takes a LOT of time, and am looking to start small.

Anyone out there know where to begin?

Leather? ...the smooth....feel against my skin....the smell....the feel...as it strikes me....snapping against skin....the stinging... Ummm I'll try and find someone...but I really don't know much about leather.

LOL, I just want to make the stuff. Figured I'd start it as a hobby, being a SCAdian and all. :)

would hardened leather work? last time i sparred in SCA fighter gear even the sheet metal armor still hurt like hell.
