Spitzer's been mired in problems, but this takes the cake. Maybe David Vitter can help him out of this one.

Why is it that I have to deduce the name of Spitzer's party from that article and MSNBC's version (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23561606/)? The first time I read the NY Times version, it lacked it as well.. and even now you have to read down several paragraphs to find it.

When it's a Republican, no guessing needed... it's in the headline. And please spare me the "because Republicans are so hypocritical" spiel. This sinks the boat on hypocrisy. I believe he prosecuted people for doing less than this.

I don't care what party he is, this is both hilarious and sad at the same time.

Sad for his wife and daughters.

Is sex really that important to screw up your family and career, and have to admit it all on the world stage in an embarrassing press conference? I bet even Halo is snickering at the guy.

If you dont know Spitzer's party, you just arent paying attention.

This isnt some obscure member of the House, or back bench senator. This the high profile Governor of the second most populated state in the country.

Yet, the headline isn't: "Prominant Democrat Governer Can't Keep Pants On". I, too, was wondering what his political affiliation was. Guess I should have known by the lack of it in the headline. Perhaps they were afraid people would just skip over the story?

Third behind Texas and California, but your point still stands

Isn't it interesting that Democrats are generally nabbed for screwing women while Republicans general screw the country (or in some cases there own gender) - joke

The part I can't get over, over $4k for one night of nookie. Good good man!!

Count the number of times R or Republican is used in their history of congressional sex scandals. Oh I'll do it for you, 7 R's and 1 D even though it's 7 Republican and 6 Democrat politicians. And they have completely ignored Mel Reynolds .. I bet they don't teach this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Reynolds)one in high school history. Easy to forget I guess.

I guess Republicans are expected to pay more attention.

Well....we sure are good at catching prostitutes and their clients....now all we need to do is use the same leet technology in catching Bin Laden.

Spitzer should resign as he crossed the hypocritical line (He was noted for his prosecution of prostitution).

Now, if we could only get the other side to push their people to do the same and resign for hypocrisy.

Can you get quarter hours, or do you have to buy the whole hour? What do you do with the rest of the time? At that rate the prostitutes better give retirement or investment advice.

If the ring was part of an organized crime operation, or involved minors crossing state lines, or tax evasion was being investigated, or racketeering laws were being applied, than either Justice or FBI involvement would not be inappropriate.

This sort of thing wouldn't be a big deal in any European country, though.

We tend to be way too uptight about what goes on in the bedrooms in this country.....

The IRS saw large sums of money being transfered with questionable "laundering" practices and knew a politician was involved. Thats when the FBI stepped in and discovered who it was and what it was. It was a money laundering case from the get go.
