This is not a knock on anyone, but this will be the last season I do the vbookie. There's simply not enough participation on this board in general, and on the vbookie polls specifically, for me to take time every week to look up lines and post it.

This season hasn't been fun for doing the lines. It's something I view now as an obligation and work instead of something that's actually fun and worthwhile. Five people max per week betting on games isn't worth the time.

I still say having the "money" reset every season removes some of the fun from this. I know several people that have been "successful" here in the past are broke from one or two bets early in the season, and had they been able to carry their money forward from previous seasons, they would have been able to weather a bad bet or two. Giving people 25 points when they go broke does NOT add any fun factor to this or encourage their active participation (and no, I am not broke on points).

There is no enticement to the users for prolonged enjoyment of the vbookie feature here. Not only does the current system discourage users that have a bad start to a season, it discourages participation from season to season as well. It also discourages me immensely as seasons go on because we have much fewer participating at the end of seasons when the games actually mean more. It also discourages me because we lose more and more people each year that used to actively participate (I will attribute some of this to people not wanting to start all over).

Same here.

The forum is dying, due to a combination of lack of interest and people moving on and extreme over modding.

The betting is just one more symptom.

I appreciate your efforts.

(Also, this year the games have been so weird that folks, like myself, have lost bundles of cash early)

Obviously you shouldn't do something that feels like a chore. I know I got pretty disinterested when it became a Football only thing, used to bet a lot more on the NCAA basketball and MLB Baseball when Blearchie was doing it - but like Bylimet said the population is dwindling :)

Thank you Tal as an infrequent better I appreciate your efforts and completely understand your feelings. I wouldn't mind if you stopped now, no way anyone should be doing something that is a chore and not fun.

Count me in the crowd that thinks the reset is what drove away allot of people. At first I thought it was a good idea and then I began seeing how those who had won a ton stopped better with greater frequency.

Don't infer causality from correlation. For example, the reason the first season winner isn't around anymore is mostly just that he went to work on his PhD and also went outside more.

Tal thanks for all the hard work and time, I wish I had more of the latter to put into my beting but having a 3 month old and working harder as a result I find myself bieng to late to bet on most of the past weekends.

You defineltly made my weekends exciting, Ill never forget bieng ahead the first year by many thousands and mentioning to friends how IM ahead 50k for the year even thou its virtual and they would still think its real when I get upset at a lose or win.

Great work Tal /hats off

I'm going to finish this season. I believe in completing what I started, and it wouldn't be right to stop on the people actively playing in the middle of the season.
