Just wondering what everyone's thoughts and opinions were on the game so far now that it's been out officially for a week.
I did find answers to some of my questions I had posted in the server localities thread. Duh, key bindings FTW!
In all I really like the game but it feels....like I'm alone except for my guild and/or group/warband there's like no chatter. I see lots of people but no one is talking, WTF? The scenario queue times on my server for T2 are loooooooong. I don't know if this is b/c there isn't enough people playing order or doing RvR. And it's really bad when you group up and try to join as a group, that takes even longer, or so it seems :( What are the queue times like on your server(s)?
I'm still having the dreaded crash to login/desktop bug every so often. I hear they are working to fix this but it's annoying.
Do you gravitate more towards PvE, RvR, or PQs?
I do really enjoy the story/lore, the titles, and the messages when they ban someone.
At first I liked that the zones were immense but now I'm not digging the running at a snail's pace everywhere. Egads I need a mount or speed buff! And I wish I could figure out the flight path and how there only seems to be one per huge freaking zone instead of multiple.
The auction house search needs some work. I don't like that you can't search the crafting by skills and I don't like that even though I choose armor and DoK I still get crap listed for other classes and things I can't even use.
I don't like that talismans are temporary.
I do like that you don't really have to follow a recipe and instead just combine shit.
I don't like that you have to wait 20sec between each mail message you send.
I love that mail is instantaneous!
I am still getting used to the targetting. I miss the passthru targetting of EQ2. But I do like the defensive target mechanism, I just have to remind myself to switch.
I do very much like the RvR, the reknown system, and the fact that chickens exist. I just really wish I could more of them and not have long queue times. Do they even do cross server RvR or just server RvR?
Please post your feedback and thoughts, I'm really curious what others think. There is definitely something about this game that has a hold on me aside from the fact it's fun.. I just wonder if I'm alone in this thinking :p

HEhe, the main reason not a lot of people are chatting is because typing while fighting in RvR can be deadly. Plus, just about everyone is on Ventrillo with their guilds.
Overall I'm having fun with this game. It's what WoW should have been when it first released. When I need world depth and unlimited horizons to explore, I go play Vanguard. When I want action packed PvP, as much as I can eat, I play Warhammer. PvP junkies need to check this game out, crafters/diplomats/peeps who wanna build houses or whatever probably won't enjoy the game as much, and I can appreciate that given the fact that they've presented the game as it is from the start. Probably game of the year material here given the amount of people playing, it's VERY successful launch and it's high ratings amongst the community (8.92 and holding steady at MMORPG.Com, VERY impressive. AoC went from 9 to 6.5 in a week after launch).

I'm not talking about chatter during RvR doof! I see MORE chatter in RvRs than anywhere else ???
I'm talking about chatter while in city areas, or PQs, or PvE areas.

Hmm, I think it's mainly due to the community simply being quite busy at the moment with leveling and PQing. I'd say the chat picks up at the main cities where the auction houses are located.

Just curious about another thing....
Has anyone tried this yet? Seems kind of interesting, and I'm continually amused at the number on the banhammer counter. It's over 4k already!
But, the annoying gold seller tells have got to go :(

Greetings!
In the continuing fight against enemies of the realms (AKA: Gold Sellers) a new tool has been brought to our attention. The third party add-on “Spam Me Not” will “intelligently detect, block and reports commercial and annoying spam messages before you even see them, without relying on an extensive list of blacklisted domain names”.
While this is not an “official” Mythic product nor is it supported or endorsed by Mythic, it can be a valuable resource in helping to make your online experience more enjoyable.
“Spam Me Not” v 0.2 BETA can be found here (http://war.curse.com/downloads/war-addons/details/spam-me-not.aspx)
As always we encourage players to continue using the in-game tools provided to you to report potential violators.
Thanks for your continued support!

Personal advice!!!!
Do as much RvR and build your reknown as much as you can before you hit level 22 ;(
I'm 23rd Level now and it's hard to find good continous rvr going on. Seems the bulk of folks are still in T1 and T2.
Until the bubble of folks rises to the higher levels I'm stuck at 80% into 17th level of reknown ;(
Been going about doing all the 10,11 and 12 chapters of the various realms to fill out my gear.
Love the pvp action and yes the Witch hunter can erally rack up the reknown in Stones Troll crossing. Running that flag and being able to snare opponents and beat them down while they try to run their own flag is FUN!!

I'm really enjoying just about every aspect of the game. I really don't have any complaints!
As far as queue times; I moved from the server I originally started on to a High/High (no queue) server after about 3 days. The difference was absolutely amazing and my enjoyment of the game went up exponentially the more I played. With a game so heavy on RvR and PQ, there needs to be a busy server. I hope Mythic recognizes that soon with their lower population servers.
Honestly, to be having this much fun so soon after release is truly amazing. As the community develops on each server and the leveling slows down, WAR should should probe to keep me engaged for some time to come.

Feh, didn't find out till last night that you can scavenge green items. I was wondering how in the hell I'd skill that up so I could make talismens ;(
Now I'll have to go back to T1 and farm items to scavenge till my skill catches up to T3 ;(

I intentionally stopped levelling at 18 b/c I looked around at my guild and saw I was outpacing them and I didn't want to be bored in T3 alone. So, I just go join keep battles every chance I get, I need that renown!
I do salvage with talisman making b/c it's the only way to get fragments. Scavengers can get the curios and gold essence for you. Fortunately I have a few folks constantly sending me scavenged stuff, it seems the easiest to level up. My problem now is that my salvage is too high, so when I salvage an item it's above my skill level! I'm only at 47 :(

Fild, your sig would give me cause to believe you may have found your dark side.
Good to hear folks are enjoying a new game. Been too many games the last couple years that elicited only complaints upon launch.
I might check War out yet myself, if I find the time.

Started getting into T3 scenario's late last night (after queing up 3 hours earlier). Finally enough folks are getting into their 20's to actually enjoy RvR again!!
I play on getting to 29 or so and then solely doing scenarios. It seems to me if you get 1 level above the bolster effect you can really make a difference in those scenario's!

Byl - I have totally found my dark side. I'm a hawt dark elf w/antlers on my head. I orignally wanted to play Order but my friends who had CE's were already in game and playing baddies so I joined them and love it. The only thing is I hope more people start playing Order so our RvR queues move faster. It feels like there are shit tons of Destruction with few Order. That is until a challenge was made by Ryan Shwayder http://www.nerfbat.com/2008/09/23/destruction-declares-victory-on-thorgrim/ (Blackguard from Eq2 now with 38studios). Things have heated up the past 3 days, we are actually fighting for keeps in several zones, they are flip-flopping daily and seeing 60+ people fighting to either defend or claim a keep is one of the cooliest aspects in a game I've ever experienced. It's just good fun!
Allot of dev/fansite type folks are all in one guild on Thorgrim CoW. They're frigging huge and despite being asked to join if I wanted to I just didn't want to be in a 125+ guild so I started my own, which subsequently they are also a part of. So if you're curious and are looking for a guild, look me up and we'll get ya settled in :)
WAR's launch is one of the smoothest I've seen since... well.... ever. Sure there are some annoyances but nothing terribly game-breaking that I've encountered. I do miss some features I have come to rely on as "staples" of MMOs and hope to see those implemented soon. Otherwise it's a game that when I log on I just get completely immersed and enjoy myself. There is so much to do and there is always action whether you have an hour or hours to play you don't feel like you're wasting your time. I have not been this addicted to a game since the first time I played EQ1.... srsly.

I'll tell you what I really enjoyed.
Last weekend I joined aprox 50 other Order aligned folks and we stormed 2 destruction controlled keeps.
We managed to take them both, and as I sat up top planting the light oil fixtured I got to see the Destruction response.
A sea of red named players came rushing over the bridge. Aproximately 100 Destruction players came to show us the error of our ways.
I should've screenshot that, it was impressive to say the least.
This game is well polished, and like Fild I'm as immersed in it as I was early EQ.
Now to find a good mature raiding guild!!

As a Witch Hunter I destroy the healers and silkies then worry about the tanks (who's dps is out of whack for their tankability).
You'll see a nerf bat hit the tanks on both sides err long. They'll take a direct hit to either their dps or tanking ability.
Tho I did take out a Chosen two levels higher than me last night!!

What level is your character Fandros? From everything I've read, IronBreakers balance out much more at higher levels. Leading some people to go so far as to say they are underpowered. I doubt that, but you get my drift.

24th level Witch Hunter atm
Maybe you're right, in T2 RvR attacking a chosen was akin to hitting a wall with a noodle.
I can actually strafe around them now and effectively bugger them.

I like to tussle with the WP and Archmages first, unless there is a BW or SW around. Ranged DPS hitting me hurts much worse than melee damage.

T3 RvR scenario's really ramping up ;)
Now you can select/apply for all scenarios for your Tier no matter where you are. It's turning into a round robin with the same set of folks on either side hitting all the scenarios. Was real fun last night learning them all against the hated enemy!!!
I'll have to find a guild soon I suppose so I know when we have a keep I can hit a Reknown merchant at.

Anyone know how an NvDia 7500 LE will run? it's not on he supported list
I don't mind the box cost, nor the monthly fee but not in the mood to lay out the cost of vid card upgrades just to play.
AoC was money down the drain for me.
Got any room for say a Greenskin Choppa in your guild Fil?

I'll be home in under 2 hours now, have to hit Wallymart first.
Hmmm I run fairly well on one machine with a much older 9600 card.
If your machine can run AoC you'll run WHO just fine. AoC was bad about putting most the work on your machines. WHO seems to do it through serverside primarily.

I run an 8500 and 8800 side by side on 20 inch wide screen monitors, and have not seen anything drastically different, although there is obvious clarity in color, details and sharpness with the 8800. WoW and EQ worked almost identically with the two cards. What is different with War?

So I've been sick this last week and only able to sit up aprox 1 hour at a time.
I've found the T3 RvR really picking up.
I'm trying to figure out the scoring in those scenarios. At times I'll be laying prone after being bushwhacked by a group of Black Orcs and such and I'll be picking up reknown in 1, 2 and as much as 6.....reads like this
1 reknown
2 reknown
4 reknown
2 reknown
6 reknown.
Now I'm not sure if this is reward for damage done to various players?? Or some action I've taken during said event.
Hopefully with this nasty cold leaving me I can sit down and suss it out?

I'm not sure either but I think it has something to do with your contribution to the fight. But as yet I have been unable to determine how it is calculated. So if you can figure it out please let me know :D
I do know for taking towers you get 300 for the initial flip and then another 300 for the defense. But I will be damned if I can figure anything else out. Same with INF so please share your knowledge :)
Sorry about your cold :(

Thanks Fil, already starting to pick up speed health wise.
As for influence I'm a bad judge there. I tend to go farm the 2 chapters ahead of actual gear while waiting for pvp action.
As I've been sick I've been avoiding groups so noone has to rely on me over much. I'm out in zones by myself plodding away and picking up the gear I need for 2 levels ahead of me. I visit all 3 areas and plod away at kills getting 100 influence per kill.
We've already noted a trend in RvR scenarios were various folks will zone in and sit at zone in the entire battle. Names such as DirtyJ etc etc who do nothing but farm reknown while sitting on their butts.
Not sure but I think they should put some sort of coding in place that boots ya for not moving in such and such time.

If you do not have to be anywhere this weekend, stay in and keep warm, and try an old fish-wife remedy: wear thick wool socks to bed, and before putting them on, rub some Vicks Vapo-Rub onto the soles of your feet. Does a great job of clearing things up. (And a double shot of Gosling Gold Rum on the rocks before bed is nice too.) :p
Feel better, Fanny!

If you notice someone sitting at the zone in, see if the group leader can boot them from group. Never had this happen yet, but if they can be booted, they will be in their own group (or solo) and should not get any reknown or xp. As far as not moving and getting booted, scenarios are too short to enact the auto log out.

I'll tell you what I've noticed and I hope it gets fixed ASAP. Healers dropping the warband/group during scenarios and healing people. They are getting 2k renown in some cases. I bug it every time I see it.
Also we're having some fun with the guild bank. None of my members can deposit items even though their perms are set that they can. And all of our money disappeared last night even though I'm the only one who can withdraw. Mythic says they are investigating but told me to change my game password etc. There is no bank log so you can't see who took what who deposited what but I am 99% sure it wasn't anyone in our guild. I see on the forums there's allot of guild bank issues and permissions good god, they need to fix it and do so quickly :(
