Got a number of calls, and checked out the site.....reinstalled EQ on the pute today, and reopened my account.

Will be fun to experience a bit of nostalgia with some like-minded friends, and not have to worry about being rushed into opening the next expansions like has previously happened.

I might only last a few weeks, or I might get hooked again. But it is fun hearing some folks being excited about a game again.

Maybe in 15 -20 years after I retire and I'm looking for something to remind me of the mental anguish, Ill do a progression server. As an SK of course, just cause I loved the salty rub. Of antonica and Kunark plus existance

Theoretically you should be able to download the EQ Titanium installer from a torrent and just log in with your account. There's a lot or people with a "legit" (non virus infected) installer out there since the Proj 1999 / SoD community downloads it frequently.

Are you ready to relive the greatest memories that you’ve ever had in EverQuest? On February 15, 2011 you can roll a new character and jump into the Fippy Darkpaw Progression Server and race through Norrath starting with the legendary first three continents and planes. To get you started, we are thrilled to invite you to come back to play for FREE from 2/10/2011 - 2/21/2011.

Have a few weeks off from work, so to cut a long story short: Look me up as Haloface on Antonius Bayl! Level 7 necromancer baby.

First time I've logged in to EQ since I left in 2004.

Started up a ranger a few days back to explore and refresh my memory of Blackburrow and the Karanas and the Gorge off E Karana; level 20 and made some serious plat. Of course, on Fippy I cannot twink my toon. :p

I am looking forward to the server, since my son has already recruited a bunch of folks to start up his old guild, <Ceaseless>. Will at least have folks to play with once they can gather in one zone.

The new Fippy server was full in about ten minutes, and they have opened a second new server under the same rule set for progression.

Initial lag was horrendous in Kelethin; somewhat better in Qeynos area. Was funny listening to the complaints of KS'ing in /ooc, with 100+ level 1 (and 2) peeps all swarming the targets outside Qeynos gates.

I logged off a level 3 last night, while my son was 4. An extreme group of hard-cores in Unrest had made it to level 11 in the first day.......made me shudder.

All in all, it is fun having everyone on a somewhat level playing field. Don't have any idea how long this will stay fun, but it is so far!

I started a Necro up on Antonius Bayle while waiting for Fippy to open. Well, I'm level 18 now and have no intention of changing over! Having played an Enchanter all those years ago, I spent my whole EQ playing time as part of a group and raids, etc. So I'm actually enjoying wandering Norrath alone and solo'ing which, as a Necro, I didn't realise was so bloody easy. Hunting Kodiaks in the Commons, caiman crocodiles in South Ro, and now Griffins and Reavers in East Karana - very isolated, very lonely, but fantastic memories. Did a run from Freeport to East Karana, forgetting how lethal Kith Forest is, and how maze-like Highhold Pass is! Tonns of fun. I won't go beyond the free account offer (think it expires on 21st?), but it's kept me entertained on my days off from work so far!

I was able to get the starter file for the game wich patch everything to what my old account was tagged for. Was a long pain and wait for everything up until PoR, but I got it all and going to give it a run around to see if I can remeber stuff

Friday thru Monday will be double experience, on all servers, for the President's Day holiday weekend.

I think I hear the sound of grinding!

Excellent, though I'm lvl 21 now not sure I need the bonus!! I don't ever remember xping being this quick? I'm getting about 6 - 8% a kill.

I've stuck strictly to Antonica, but I may wander over to Kunark and Velious when I hit 25+. Seriously enjoying myself, a shame it will have to come to an end on Monday.

Ah that's why then.

Funny to log in after 7 years and have someone yell 'is that the real Haloface?'

Good to hear you are having fun Halo!

And, I was in error when I said all servers. As Elemak mentioned, only the non-time locked are getting that bonus. I might have to log onto my 22 Ranger and camp Broon for a couple levels, seeing he was still conning yellow.

I am enjoying the old school Fippy server, but I had forgotten what it was like to have hordes of folks competing for the same stuff. At least the hard-core power folks are getting up there and will be moving to other zones, allowing a little bit more breathing room for the rest.

Well, that was incredibly fun. Somewhat reluctant to leave my little lvl 25 Necro in Kunark, but for my own sanity I'm not going to go beyond this free offer which expired today. Mostly because it was frighteningly addictive again, much as it was all those years ago. And I just don't have time for that anymore!

Honestly, if you are to play any - I'd play EQ2. Velious is coming out, Odus came out last year and Kunark the year before that ... its similar, but a new experience on a newer engine instead of replaying the same game.

LOL, the addictive quality is undeniable. I had a Ranger at level 22, and came home from work Saturday with the double XP going took that Ranger (solo, mind you) to 38 by Monday afternoon. Frontier Mountains was fun again! :)

I am going to keep the account active for awhile, playing between the Fippy progression server and messing around with the Ranger on Bristlebane-Tribunal.

As for Kelraz' suggestion regarding EQ2, I hated that game, personally. It just never offered me anything that grabbed the old enthusiasm hook.

I'm with Halo. it was a fun bit of nostalgia but I think i'll just smack myself in the balls with a hammer and save the 15$ a month.

Lol, yeah I hear that. Maybe not the hammer thing though.

Well, am playing a Ranger and just added an alt Druid for duo-ing, and both are carrying the names of the originals I first started with; Bytemeh lasted up to level 23 before GM's forced a change, which resulted in Bylimet, the first time around.

Anyway, as sick as this might strike many, there are a few of us in the guild already talking about pushing on the tradeskills needed for the Blessed Prayer Shawl quest, which won't be available for quite a while, since the vote for opening Kunark is still two months away.

And I have to admit, running a level 1 Wood Elf druid from Kelethin to Qeynos was a hoot!! (I did get two SoW's along the way, I admit) They did leave the soulbinders in game, so that has made things a tad bit easier.

I am hooked all over again, even knowing mobs and drops and maps, etc.
