sixee, you incredibly dumb person, he is the person of the year because he made the biggest impact, not because i want to fondle his scrotum, just like OBL should have been in 2k1 instead of rudy.

Wiggo, you wiper of other people's bottoms, I wasn't suggesting he didn't make an impact.

In case you are wondering about some of the other dubious characters that have made Time's "Person of the year" list, it can be found here.

i know whos been made person of the year, but the sad fact is that for the last 10 years or so, theyve been incredibly weak and afraid of giving it to the person who DID make the most impact, like for example OBL.

how much they like the person should have no impact on the decision.

Wiggo, you pond scum, Its a fricken magazine (that I actually Print), they can do what ever they like, name who ever they want. A Time magazine with OBL on the cover named "person of the year" would probably burn and cost the company money..in other words bad buisness decision...hello.

so news should self-censure, or their readers might weep? i agree, they can do whatever they like, but should they? i mean, really, was rudy the person that made the greatest impact in the world in 2001?

Ibudin

Like I said Wiggo, Time is not a public "Free" government paid magazine. They put in what makes business sense, and go with to make "Money". Jesus all that superior schooling you Euros get and you still need it spelled out for you.

F.Y.I

Not that I don't argee with you on who has made the biggest impact..i mean Rudy..pfft. I am just stating that OBL shouldn't be on the cover of a magazine such as Time period. In fact he shouldn't get any media coverage...

Giving air time to the enemy gives more to their cause than not...AMIRITE? Its pretty basic concepts.

Or SWEDEN could come up with a magazine who is as popular as "Time" and put George Bush on it...what a plan hey?>

Would Ewa Auling(sp) be considered for a cover?

But seriously, Putin is a great choice, considering world politics and the influence he has had in moving Russia foraward again after the Yeltsin years. The Putin influence will be a major element in the next several years, even as he leaves the Presidency.

What would be the point of putting his face on a million+ print magazine and calling him the most influencial person of the year or what ever it is?? Just curious, wouldn't that only energize his own supporters? If you cant figure out that logic, no sweat..I don't care. Like I said, maybe someone in Sweden could start a magazine as popular as "Time" and put who ever they want on the cover..

Giuliani was a poor choice in 2001, named more as a reaction to the attack on our country than anything else, but I wouldn't give OBL the distinction either. Was he really influential? Only over a cadre of fanatics.

He had an impact, of course, and TIME would be justified in naming him thus, but I can understand not just a reluctance, but a repugnance, in doing so, even if it fits in with the "for better or for worse" theme of the pronouncement. So, from realistic, emotional and business perspectives (as L2 mentioned), naming OBL 2001's PotY was hardly the necessary act some seem to think it was.

Stay tuned, though, he's certainly in the running for Asshole of the Decade.
