Ok, I ordered the dvd set of season 1 (cheaper than paying for HBO for the year), and am watching episode 2 atm. So far, I really like how they have set this up. But I almost broke a wine glass when I fell out of my chair laughing.

Scene: Tara enters her home to find mother passed out on living room sofa, drunk. On the table nest to the sofa are magazines, amongst them "The Enquirer". Cover story - "Angelina to adopt vampire baby".

Now that is a production crew with a wicked sense of humor. :D

I have two episodes left of Season 1 to watch, and I have been holding off so that I can prolong the pleasure. I will not subscribe to HBO again just for this, so will have to wait for Season 2 to hit DVD, but I absolutely will be getting the entire series based on what I have seen so far.

The show is great. The books.....I can take or leave.

Goddamn it, this show has got me hooked, just bought the Season 1 DVD (couldnt beat 24 bucks on amazon), after everyone kept saying how good it is. And watched the whole thing in less then 2 days. The episodes went by so darn fast, i was left wanting more. Now i will have to wait a year before season 2 ever comes out.
I'm almost tempted just to get HBO.

Saw an interesting little tidbit of gossip: Sookie/Anna Pacquin and Bill/Stephen Moyer may be getting married in real life before their Trueblood characters. Apparently they developed quite a romantic relationship off camera as well as on, which might actually be an asset in the emotional exchanges on camera.

Was thinking of purchasing the series for the 12 hour drive to Washington state when I move up there this next week.

Worth the read?

its interesting, if you like the show you may not want to read the books.

I have enjoyed the show so likely dont' want it spoiled.

The new power chick...I'm guessing she either is or was once viewed as a goddess? Or just a very powerful witch?

I finally caught up on all this this weekend. Wow good stuff, when does it normally air on HBO so I'll know when to look for more episodes?

I was thinking the creature that attacked Sookie was Mary Ann but when Daphne got in the water with Sam and had the scar I wasn't sure what to think.

I am caught up fully on season 2 now... I hated one of the new characters.... but I love the way they hit every Louisiana sterotype possible :)

Inventing a new parish was nice touch :)

Looks like Season 3 is going to tie Books 3 & 4 together. Saw a preview where Eric got shot, and immediately after Sookie was holding a gun which (while extremely misleading) only happened at the end of book 4.

4 was probably my favorite book, so it'll be a decent season. Books 5+ were when the story started to shark jump.

Comparing Trueblood to Twlight is about the most retarded thing ever. The two aren't even close. One is kiddo one is adult and they target different audiences. It's like saying PowerRangers is like the Avengers or XMen.

Twilight Vampires arnt even the same, i can never get past the diamond skin thing when there exposed to sunlight. That was just retarded.

True Blood is more in line with Ann Rice type of vampires. Its not for the kiddies, most certainly adult fare. Nudity and Gore aplenty!
Cant wait for season 2 on DVD!

Came out today!! :p

The Target stores (in our area, at least) were offering their $5 gift card deal if you bought the Season 2 DVD set and any one of the books, and naturally had the new hardcover displayed at $18 something. I bought the Season 2 and the first book, since I never read the whole thing; cost of the book was $5.99, so I got it for 99 cents.

Is there any place you can purchase season 3 episodes and watch them?

Kelraz Bladesinger
06-15-2010, 09:44 AM
Yeah, but I'm sure you knew this answer before you asked. The only way you can see the show is buying a subscription to HBO through your cable provider and watch the episodes "on demand" or live.

bleh I don't want HBO, I'm swearing off comcast altogether and am relying on netflix, itunes, and hulu. bleh, guess I'll just wait then.

Also, no I didn't know the answer before I asked...or I wouldn't have asked :o

Because of the nature of the premium cable and their various deals with the cable companies (Comcast, Dish, etc. pay HBO for the privilege of being able to offer to sell their services to their members, believe it or not) they can't screen the shows anywhere else (web, netflix, etc.) until the seasons are over and the DVDs are packaged and shipped.

I shoot promos for Showtime and I can't even get copies of those gigs until a year or two later (and unfortunately by that time the producer who worked on them has moved on or something, I rarely get a DVD sent to me :()

That being said, Books 3-4 (which season 3 is going to be mostly based on) are the last 2 decent ones - I'd suggest reading them while looking up boobs on the internet for a similar effect.

I have not seen a single episode on cable, but have been extremely pleased with getting the full season DVD's upon release and watching at my pace; I have to admit that I was so enthusiastic about getting season 2 I watched the whole thing in two days. I am going to watch it again at a slower pace to pull out the subtle stuff I missed when blazing thru.

I now await next summer's release of season 3, and will read nothing that might be considered spoilers.

You can download them from illegal websites.

Last year during Season 2, Comcast screwed up and didn't have episode 7 available On Demand (for like two weeks lulz). I really wanted to watch it but none of the re-run times it was on were 'conveneint' for me. I downloaded it and burned it to a dvd and watch it like normal. Then made sure not to miss episode 8 on Sunday :)

I haven't seen the first episode season 3 yet :( Hopefully soon!!!!!!!

The bonus disc with the season 2 DVD set contained an interview with the head writer guy who also was involved with '6 Feet Under' and a bunch of the cast members, taking questions from an audience of fans. One of the questions had to do with the longevity of the show, and the writer casually says, "Well, she has written 8 books so far, so we'll see", or something to that effect.

I also got a kick out of the fan that very pointedly reminded everyone of the fates of 'Carnivale' and 'Deadwood', and his hope that HBO does not repeat those travesties of simply canceling and leaving fans up in the air.

The interview was a fun watch.

Unfortunately, after book 4 (this season is combining books 3 and 4) they become absolute crap. The last one (book 10, Dead in the Family) I read a good 200 pages before I realized that NOTHING happened yet. I finished the book, and still nothing happened. No mystery, nada. Sookie got over her fear of tanning, that's about it. I should have stopped reading a few books ago but bought em all already so I figured I may as well but god damn, never again. I swear someone other than Charlene Harris wrote the first 3 or 4 and she's just taking credit.

The good thing about a TV show is it dont have to follow closely to the books. So if its a bad book, im sure they can make it better on the TV series. I never read any of the books, so i have no clue what ones are bad or good. I just like the TV show. :p
I did read there was fairys and stuff in the books, i dont recall seeing those in the TV show.

Alot of people seem to like books 3-4 and book 7, they seem to be the most talked about books of the series.

Yeah, and the shows do drift. Lafayette for example died in the 2nd book. As for the fae, that's when it got stupid ... they were introduced in book 5 or 6 I think. HBO has some pros, I hope they can drift far enough away that they don't resemble the books :p
