I am pondering two boxing once i get a real connection, just mostly to pl a few alts up. I am wondering if most people out ther that two box or more typically put their monitors side x side or something different. Also does anyone use one set of input devices (keyboard/mouse) or does everyone one use a set for each box
thanks

2 of everything, either side by side or at an angle curving around you.

i got a corner desk so one in front and one to the side with both monitors lined up next to each other. Works the best for me since i turn to type but can see the monitor at all times.

CTRL + ALT + S = kick ass 2 boxing.

I think it's easier to play two on one comp. Generally I try to stick to one computer per group. So for example if I'm playing war, cler, enc in one group, and healing a different group with another cleric i'll use two computers. But if i was playing war, cler, enc, wiz all in one group i'd load them all on the same computer. Unless it was heavy duty healing, then I'd put the cleric on his own box.

I usually have 2 accounts running on my main computer, then a cleric or druid running on my other comp since I set up my + key to cast a heal, 'enter' key to root/snare and - key to do the buff rhetoric.
All in all, I could probably play with that monitor off. Clerics have it so easy.

dont bother with control+alt+S
download MS Compatibility Administrator or grouped together in the MS Compatibility Toolkit.
dissable the key to block alt-tabing in EQ
then download MS power toys task switcher, this makes windows xp alt tabing work better with eq and all programs.
then just use EQW and you can alt tab between the two windows really easy.
i use to do it all the time with just a 1gz amd gf3 and 768 megs of ram.

I just alt tab out of EQ and load a second version of EQ up, play both on same comp and just alt tab between the 2, low lagg, even with my shit comp (933 athlon w/384mbRAM).

I swear, I don't know how you guys do it with one computer. I've tried it a couple of times. I've got pretty good hardware, but it's just so slow. And zoning? Forget it. I'd zone both instances and go out for a movie.
Only thing I could think of that I never tried was putting the 2 instances on difference hard drives.

I run Windows 2000 Pro on two computers.. AMD 1800+ with 512 MB RAM and a 256MB video card in each...
I run *cough* several accounts *cough* and have had as many as four toons running.. two boxing and two toons on each computer.
Yeah, this does have some disadvantages, but I only do this when I'm powerleveling an alt. Otherwise I run a single instance on each computer and handle it all with hot-keys.
I am kinda curious how this is going to play out with the new melee stuff coming soon. I guess I'll have to get used to actually doing something with the warrior instead of just hitting auto-attack and the hot-key for /doability. <shrug>
I have a cable modem connection and sit behind a router and have only occasionally had things go sour. On the other hand... when I lose my connection, the whole party disintegrates. Heheh..

The best thing to ensure succesful 2boxing on 1 pc is to have 2 eq directories.
It helps a ton if your harddrive is older or is badly fragmented.

Try turning off all the eye candy Mird.... do that and you can 2box on a 500mhz machine.

kvm switches + lcds are the only way to go. but what i do ist hook up the mouse and keyboard to the kvm and hook up the monitors like you normally would to there comps. that way i can just share mouse+keyboard and each comp will still have its monitor. make sure you get a good kvm where you can program the shortcut keys to switch comps. works great and saves space. having more then one set of keyboard + mouse is just ridiculous and a waste of time. plus makes it eaiser since all your chars are visible at the same time.

If you must kvm, get a belkin switch
Scroll Lock Sroll Lock and a number swaps pc's!

I have 5 seperate PCs, 5 seperate accounts.
I can box just fine.
(Yes, all 5 at once, and it's a half circle shape).

Normally I use two computers for that, but since one died last weekend, I am doing it on one for the time being. It's working okay, but i prefer it the other way.
cheers
Using 2 adjacent computers (and keyboards / mice) is a lot easier in my opinion. I wish I had a 3rd piece of junk to 3 box with (you'd be suprised at what kinds of comps can still run eq relatively well).

use three complete comps here.Hard part is getting the kb/mouses set up in a comfy spot so not sliding the chair all over, once get the hang of it, just need to use your hands, swivel your head once in a while to reveiw chat channels.

I find running two instances of EQWindows (in their own directory) on one instance of Everquest works the best and fastest for me.
I also put Everquest on a drive different from the one that holds your swap file.
Also, make sure you've optimized your computer (such as having a fixed swap file size, extra background processes turned off, etc).
