I've seen lately you can buy dvd players that supposedly upconvert normal dvd's to almost hidef quality, i was just curious if there are any dvd drives out there that can practically do the same thing, I only ask because my computer is pretty much everything for my tv. Tivo,Cable,Dvd Player, etc.

The way I understand, all they do is use a good MPEG scaling algorithm to push the resolution of the image higher before it gets to the television (which usually has a lower quality scaler). So, your computer has already been doing the equivalent every time you've watched a movie on it in full screen.
