There's a higher than normal learning curve with this, but its basically a browser based game that you can play for 10-30 minutes a day (or twice a day) and build up a province and attack, kidnap, ambush, pillage, and rain meteors down on your enemies. At first I was looking for something fun to do at work and now I'm kinda hooked, especially since it encourages you to stay out of game for more than 12 or 20 hours at a time (and you get a huge gold bonus if you do).

Starting out you get a small parcel of land and you can send your soldiers to explore new lands or build up the ones you get. As you grow, you'll find the best way to get land is to attack other kingdoms. It also doesn't let big guys pick on little guys (or vice versa) through you getting the most rewards attacking people slightly smaller to slightly bigger than you.

The kingdom assignments (kingdom is like your "guild", you get 25 teammates to help you out) are random so we can't all team up, but we can always send messages and intel and attack people picking on each other accross kingdom lines if we want. For a group that spends so much time on the forums here, and given our background, I figure this is something a lot of people would get into.

I've been playing only a week or two and my kingdom just entered a war with another kingdom. I keep kidnapping peasantry and murdering armies in their sleep with my thieves, but they have a ruby dragon flying overhead and generally mucking things up and we're getting creamed. Its been a lot of fun and I spend the better part of my working day planning out what I'll do next time I log in. Let me know if anyone else decides to try it!

I used to play that game but eventually lost interest. iirc there is a way to get friends together in the kingdom, but it has to do with the King inviting them or something, ofcourse this was a couple years ago, they've likely changed the rules since.

I used to play an Undead warrior type, they have a pretty slick "class" system in place. The warrior types usually suck at magical divinations that allow "spying" on an enemy to find a nice, ripe target to hit. If you guys arent already doing so, make sure your caster types are posting their Crystal Ball results and such.

Oh, here's a link for ya, http://www.utopiatemple.com/attack.php learn to use it, love it and live it. It will help prevent your attackers from bouncing off of defenders.

Good luck!

PS I see they did away with the Undead race. Damnit, they were my fave!

They change races and stuff up every so often to make it more interesting and fair, no one can work out the ideal strat and just plow over everyone every age. Gnomes are a recent addition and Orcs now carry the Undead's plague.

What kingdom(s) are you in? In Genesis I'm the monarch of 9:30, in WoL I'm in ... hrm, I forget, will look tomorrow don't wanna log in and lose the 20 hour gold bonus.

New start on regular server on MAY 1!!!!!!!

I got caught in a lame kingdom, so am starting over in may...I'm torn between going dwarf artisan or elf war hero.

Heh, in genesis I'm monarch of 2:29, and have managed to whip most of my provinces into shape. :) We just lost a war, but consistantly gained net worth, land, and honor while in it....Go figure.

If there's a way to join a kingdom, I'm all ears, but it seems to be a bit random, other than cycling through people in your kingdom untill you've tossed out all the inactives and chased out all the people who don't side with the majority.

I'm the monarch of 9:30 in Genesis :) We should war each other, hehe. We're 2/3, our last war we had a guy lose a mom in RL so he disappeared then deleted.

Sadly no, you can't pick where you land - you can just defect and hope for the best.

I'll post my new WoL KD # here as soon as I figure out what it is.

21;31 in WoL. I'm Octopussycat (our theme is cats in movies or something strange like that). Playing a pure T/M mystic this time around ... no offense but I can melt anyone's face and kill all their troops in war.
How'd you end up monarch in your first time around anyway? That's pretty cool.

I got in a kingdom being run by a good monarch in WoL, and got out all my stupidity there. In Genesis, our old monarch left, so I put my hat in the ring first.
It's amazing what the "momentum" thing does when campaigning for monarch.

Did the same thing when starting Age of Scholar in WoL, but the new kingdom was half slackers, and half people who didn't want to wait for them...pretty much an ungovernable situation, so starting over....gonna go elf artisan this time.

Genesis and legends are two completely different games. Genesis pays off being the attacker type, while Legends attack times are just too long to make, say, war hero or warrior worthwhile...;/

Well with an elf or gnome you've got quick feet. Or wars when you can double or triple people. A lot depends how many islands away you are.

Mini Bump, if this interests anyone a guy in my kingdom wants to quit so I have an account in my kingdom (as opposed to randoming into a kingdom that might suck or might be awesome, we're in the top 3rd)
