There's a higher than normal learning curve with this, but its basically a browser based game that you can play for 10-30 minutes a day (or twice a day) and build up a province and attack, kidnap, ambush, pillage, and rain meteors down on your enemies. At first I was looking for something fun to do at work and now I'm kinda hooked, especially since it encourages you to stay out of game for more than 12 or 20 hours at a time (and you get a huge gold bonus if you do).
Starting out you get a small parcel of land and you can send your soldiers to explore new lands or build up the ones you get. As you grow, you'll find the best way to get land is to attack other kingdoms. It also doesn't let big guys pick on little guys (or vice versa) through you getting the most rewards attacking people slightly smaller to slightly bigger than you.
The kingdom assignments (kingdom is like your "guild", you get 25 teammates to help you out) are random so we can't all team up, but we can always send messages and intel and attack people picking on each other accross kingdom lines if we want. For a group that spends so much time on the forums here, and given our background, I figure this is something a lot of people would get into.
I've been playing only a week or two and my kingdom just entered a war with another kingdom. I keep kidnapping peasantry and murdering armies in their sleep with my thieves, but they have a ruby dragon flying overhead and generally mucking things up and we're getting creamed. Its been a lot of fun and I spend the better part of my working day planning out what I'll do next time I log in. Let me know if anyone else decides to try it!
