Hah, Osg beat me to it ;). I remember very little from that miniseries (which then, iirc, became a dreadful TV series) other than the map painting of spaceship superimposed over those huge irrigation pipes in California, and the lizard chick in her uniform swallowing the mice whole ;)...

I'm sure it'll be camptastic, or we can only hope...

And, who can forget Robert Englund (later to be Freddie Krueger) as one of the aliens who were first to "cross over" to the human side.......ahh, what power love has over men, errr, or the male of the species.

And he was such a gentle soul...only to evolve into a child molesting serial killer. :mad:

I loved this show as a kid; I cannot wait!

I don't think Freddie Krueger ever molested children....he just slaughtered them, not that that's much better....

And I think "V" was one of the original mini-series ever produced.

Needs Michael Ironside also. The bad ass guy that he was!!

But all I can say....Hells Yea!!!

What a great opening episode.

Characters get established, we get an idea of the depth of the machinations of the Visitors, and we get some actual talent in place of the cheesy actors (for the most part) from the original.

I liked it. 3 thumbs up!

Either the dialog or the acting or something wasn't very good for this level a show. I can't put my finger on it, but it felt sort of hollow.

Still will definitely give it a shot.

Worst case, I could happily stare at Morena Baccarin and Laura Vandervoort all day.

One thing that did bother me is that there was no " holy shit it's aliens we need to quarantine them in case we could all die" type scenario you'd expect. Everybody was all " oh its aliens! c'mon in!"

I think having 29 huge ships all appearing over the largest cities on the planet simultaneously automatically takes the response beyond the level you speak of, and more toward one of relief that they are not doing an "Independence Day" number on the planet.

I think the problem was they condensed a lot into a small time, they didn't really give any of the characters depth just action.

I can see that point.. While I loved every damn second of it a 2 hour premier would have been great to flesh out (no pun intended) the characters a bit more...

Meh.. give it a shot is all you can do.. I loved every second of it.. I put it up there with BSG and Stargate SG-1.. That's REALLY hi in my book though.

I'm pretty sure the writers were off their ADHD meds while writing this. It's like individual scenes are pretty good, but the episodes lack coherency on the whole.

Huh.. I thought they all blended well. I may not have a great prospective though as I am fanboi'ing this hard. Love'n it.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think it's bad and I'm going to keep watching it.

Just feels like the writers/producers/whoever bit off more scope than they could chew, at least at first. We'll see how it progresses.

It seems they are really trying hard to demonstrate how they are improving on the original, but like they have only so much time to do it and are racing toward a deadline to get everything included.

She looks very different with the short hair, when she had long hair in her Firefly days, she was *much* more attractive.

Because there's only 1 month left this year, and that month includes Christmas and traditionally low viewership. ABC wants to run their Christmas specials instead.

eh I just caught on to what you said Tal about only 4 episodes this year. I did some research and it shows March 2010 for the next episode release? That is a bit of a dissapointment :( I really hate when shows do that
